Bonnet Badge Refurb Advice

My bonnet badge is looking sorry for itself!
It is as if a clear coat on top has gone powdery. Thought I would try to rub down and them put new clear coat on.
Question is what should I use to remove the crusty clear coat so that I don’t damage the “enamel” underneath?

Faded Bonnet Crest / Badge

Has anyone come across a faded badge like this? Seems as though the discolouring is on the very surface of the crest on the black parts, but almost as if the colour is present below that. Would be great if I could bring it back without buying a replacement - any ideas? .

The Chinese copies arent so hard wearing as a Porsche one, yours has lost all the black from PORSCHE as well as looking faded. You could try and polish it with Tcut and then infill the black but it might be easier to just buy a Genuine badge.

I think most of the black is hidden by excess polish! Would like to restore this original one if I can!
Cost of a new one soon adds up - badge, gasket, securing nuts - £150 gone before you know.

What makes you think that it is not original!

Many signs but mainly the horses tail is wrong, the STUTTGART is extremely poor engraving, look at the G and A they are terrible! The one in T8's post is a Genuine one, compare the 2

Gosh, you could be right, I’ll have to take a close look at the underside fittings. Have a huge history file on car from new but no where mentioning that the badge had been changed, very strange.

I once blew our some of the red and black 'enamel' on an OEM badge.

I was waving a pressure washer at not even that close a distance.

This one was definitely OEM since I bought that car from new lol!
