Hi Guys
I am still considering lowering options on my 997.2 Carrera (Non-S) with PASM.
I may be wrong but even with PASM mine seems to sit quite high (pic below), does a non-S with PASM sit higher than an S with PASM?
I had my tape measure out last night and top of tyre to arch at the back is 35mm and at the front seem more like 45mm.

I have considered coilovers but not sold on the extra expense of going Bilstein and really unsure of risking some of the cheaper options available eg BC Racing.
To my eye Eibach springs seem not to offer a low enough drop at the front, not sure on H&R or the Techart springs I am considering.

Some visual assistance would be massively useful here so if anyone has pics of their lowered car I would be extremely interested to see them along with the suspension setup and 911 model

Thanks in advance

H&R -20mm. I'd personally go for a good set of coil overs. Really worth it on a 997 and some fantastic options available. I found the lowering springs a little too soft. Also scrape on speed humps.

Nice stance but too much of an inconvenience.

Eibach Springs on my GTS.

I believe Techart springs are made by Eibach. Something else for you to consider if you're looking for a nice stance would be spacers - no point in dropping the height if the wheels are still tucked under the arches. 12 or 15mm at the rear and 5 or 7mm at the front is generally the norm.

Mines on Techart which are made by Eibach but to Techart specs which are different / lower, Eibach sit a bit higher on the rear as I have had these as well.

Squelch, that's how my C2S sits like but on H&R springs with 15 mm rear and 7 mm front spacers. -30 springs so would suit a non S better.

Your car looks the biz btw :thumb:

Manual or PDK ?

Cheers! It's a PDK. Sadly spacers aren't possible with the GTS centre locks so I had to buy the GT3RS wheels to fill the arches a little better.

Its not a 997

Techart springs, 5/10mm spacers f/r.

When you get them installed you can barely notice the difference, a few hundred miles and it is a nice subtle drop, although I regularly still catch the little flaps underneath.

I'm on H&R (blue 25mm drop) springs with 15mm spacers all round. I have the GTS bumper and front lip on mine and to be honest with this combination it's probably a bit low as it scrapes quite often.

So I think it depends on how low you want to go and what front you're running.

I'd always go with coilovers personally. Bilstein B16 damptronic if you want to retain PASM functionality. KW V3's or Ohlins R&T if not. Prices between £2-3k, which might be hard to justify, given the price of springs alone. The benefits of coilovers are better damping and the ability to set the car up really well, with corner weighting etc if you take it somewhere like Centre Gravity. For me it's about improvements to the cars handling, rather than the aesthetics, but you get a nice drop as a result. I generally do adjustable anti-roll bars too.

Having had springs a few times on other cars (RS4's, M3's, etc) they seem better initially and then over time start to feel a bit crashy and harsh. I've generally upgraded those cars to coilovers in the end too.

That said Centre Gravity did say that if you where adamant about springs only, the Techart springs where the ones they would suggest for a 997.

Thanks for the great response.
Looking through the pics they look so much better with even a small drop to my eye.
The original, and primary, driver was aesthetics but since my front shocks are also corroded at the tops the sensible, but expensive, approach to this is replacing shocks and springs both front and back.
That leaves me with 1600ish for Bilstein replacement dampers (b4/6's) and lowering springs OR 2300 for B16 Coilovers / a bit more for KW variant 1 / a chunk more for KW variant 3 or Ohlins.
Anybody got any cheaper coilover alternatives? Think I saw some H&R's the other day at 1400

It helps slightly that the 600-800 Porsche specialists have quoted for fitting can be brought down significant by a local independent, who used to run a 997, followed by a proper alignment but it is not going to be a cheap exercise. Decisions decisions...

If it helps, this is on Ohlins with spacers:

Sits lovely, rides pretty comfortably although gets a bit lively on busted up B roads!!
