Glass-out repaint - your thoughts appreciated

I had a full glass out/doors and fenders off respray last year by 9m. Total bill was close to 25K. Quality is a very generous 2/10.

Car went to Riviera afterwards to fix the disastrous (and in some cases fraudulent) work.

9m might know mechanics of this car well, but his employees are hot garbage

I see things have not changed at 9M then, I heard some real horror stories in years gone by and always wondered how they get away with it with such a great reputation :dont know:

If you want to pay the Porsche tax then there are plenty of Porsche specialists who will still be charging you the same rate for Bodyshop work as they do for mechanical work hence the 20k plus bill.

If your car is solid and rust free, then I can see no reason for it to run to 20k. There are plenty of old school body shops with less of the glam facilities that work regularly on high end cars and still charge a more reasonable hourly rate.

They are out there.

Well said that man

There's a big difference between charging a high hourly rate and doing an honest high quality job, and charging a high hourly rate on hugely exaggerated hours and fraudulently charging for OEM parts while using cheap low quality ones (windscreen in my case and probably alot else).

@jontt the reason people still use them is because I've noticed a distinct aversion in the UK to shaming low quality providers. It was very different in the US. I have gotten a lot of stories in my DMs about them, but never posted publicly. So the average new owner would never know and just see some fancy charts (probably fake) from 2003 on rennlist and think oh they must be good

Should be no reason to feel afraid to name and shame. Only reason Minty had to visit Porsche Central Operations for glass out respray is https://autobodytechnic.com/ previous respray similar to an Albanian chop shop. They're a sponsor on 911UK. Unbelievable. You live and learn.

:?: :hand: :nooo: :? :dont know:

I've heard first hand and seen some horror stories it beggers belief. That includes a roof on a high value classic for which a respray was charged at the equivalent of a full car and had to be redone by another company  So much so that when someone on here states they have / are using them I just think pants pulled down
