Restored 1980 SC Targa

First and Last time I will ever restore a car !!

Bought an incredibly sound 1980 SC targa in April 2019
It had fairly flat paint (probably to be expected at 40 y/o), and two tiny areas of bubbling, but generally good condition

Passed its MOT with no advisories, I then made the mistake of taking it to a very well regarded local bodyshop.

In a moment of madness, thoughts of addressing the local paint imperfections, turned into a full repaint.

In no time at all, it was stripped , and baremetal :frustrated:

Good news though, the guy doing it is well known on the classic Porsche scene. He is 69 , and knows everything there is to know about air cooled. He was responsible for stripping , and rebuilding a 74 RS, that DK engineering sold for £1.5m. So he is more than qualified to work on my little targa. He says that it is one of best, most original cars he has seen, no accident damage, no rot, still had wax on inner wings from the factory!

Fast forward (through the COVID delays), and its almost finished.

Consciously not tried for any singer-esqe styling, or backdates. This car looks like its come off the line.

Glass out, strip to Baremetal, addressed an ancient poor repair to scuttle, various etch, primer and undercoats, and refinished in its glorious factory hue of "HellBlau"

Full retrim of seats, door cards. New carpet set, retrimmed steering wheel, Every rubber, seal, bung.
Light lenses, steering & gearbox bushes....I will get full list....

I'm still doing things like fitting period correct blaupunkt, new decent speakers , making sure electric Windows and heater works ...

hoping this link works (still 2 weeks away, so forgive finishing touches):

I am in a quandary. It will never look as good again, so thinking I should sell.
:dont know:

Is there anyone out there, looking for an absolute peach of a classic?

Engine is great , no suspicious noises or smoke..If someone wanted to take it further , and do some trick bits to the engine , can you imagine ! Show winner :bandit:

This is not your usual autotrader / ebay rubbish at £30-35k, that has a £20k bill lurking around the corner...... I've taken that pain, so I want to sell for as near to what its cost me as I can

PM me

Only Apple users can see the photos, I`m not an apple owner, which is why I ditched my iphone about 10 years ago as I found their platform unuseable for my work,

Would love to see the photos though, can you put them up on Imgur or something like that :?:

I'm not an apple user and was able to see them.

Bloody ace job that is. That paint looks so rich and deep.

The guy did a great job, no question.

From the above it looks like the decision re any engine and mechanical mods will be down to the next lucky owner.

:worship: thank you !

If my 997 GT3 sells before this, I might keep.
Then, one of those fancy engines would be very tempting

I've never actually driven a classic in anger
