Has any body dealt with this company before

https://www.prestigeandperformancemotors.co.uk

They have a cheap 997 for sale which caught my eye has it had had a lot of money spent on an engine rebuild at Hofmanns using Hartech Nikasil liners , IMS bearing etc.
https://www.prestigeandperformancemotors.co.uk/.../porsch...

However when I studied the advert it claimed the car came with Ceramic Brakes, Sports Chrono, 2 different styles of wheel, and lots of other extras which clearly were not visible in the pictures.
I quizzed the seller and he came back saying the car did not have these extras.
I asked why advertise them then? He replies his advert did not claim the extras were fitted.
I sent a screen shot of the eBay ad and the advert on their own website which claimed all of the above and other extras were fitted.
He then came back and said it was DVLA's fault for holding the incorrect details.
I reminded him he was responsible for his own advertisement and it was false advertising.
He then told me to F**K off !.
I then studied another advertisement on his website for a black 997. Again in the description it was full of errors. Infact 4 different style of wheel were said to be fitted.
https://www.prestigeandperformancemotors.co.uk/.../porsch...
Again he blamed the DVLA.
Am I stupid as he is insinuating or is he not responsible for the content of his advertisments even if as he says the DVLA hold incorrect details for a vehicle?
It looks like a case of overzealous copy and pasting or an IT error, but rather than dealing with it correctly the best he can do is tell me to do one.
Shame really I like that silver 997.

Two rubbish adverts. :nooo:

The DVLA don't hold any such details about cars so that's nonsense too.

It would make me take any claims about any cars that he is selling with a pinch of salt.

His Mobile number is listed. Perhaps a phone call later on, say 3am to confirm details might be worthwile :dont know:

Looks like the car is sold or ad taken down :D

Not wanting to defend the dealership but his ads do state "ADVERTS SUBJECT TO E & OE". I've seen that on a few ads on Autotrader since the AT populates lots of spec that isn't actually on the car being advertised. AT seems to basically employ bored web marketeers who are constantly messing around with the platform - any search is sorted by default to "relevance" for crying out loud!!

Anyway, I digress. This dealer seems to show one address on his AT adverts and another one on his eBay listings. And only a mobile number is listed which suggests possibly a one-man band ready to fold when things get tricky.

It looks like it was only incorporated in May 2019 too so not much to speak of in the way of financial history. And I notice that the Porsche you're looking at is advertised as "for sale on behalf of a client" so for me that's already setting out their stall when it comes to standing by the car (or not). They also have a Bentley for sale listed at a "STRICTLY PRE PREPARATION OFFER PRICE ONLY" which presumably means they want to shift it without doing the £,000's of remedial work required?!?

Personally I'd approach buying a go-kart from them with caution.

All speculation of course - but it's just my tuppence.

And (since they are only one word different from a Porsche Specialist who is well known and much loved on these pages) as Matt Alright always says, please don't confuse them with other companies of the same or similar name.

Personally I wouldn't buy a Fiesta from this company. IMHO all the stock is high mileage auction flip fodder. Not worth the bother, clearly no idea what they are talking about blaming the DVLA

Loads of reputable Porsche dealers and hundreds of honest private sales out there. Good luck with your search! :thumb:

I would have thought his initial reply, as you have reported, in itself is enough not to follow up regardless of how good the car. may seem.

OP, I wouldn't bother wasting your time with such dealers - if they're that lax on the description it's likely to imply they're not going to offer a decent level of customer service if something goes wrong. If you're he'll bent on going to look at it to verify the details first hand & it's local, that's fine although I'd suggest you try & verify the extent of the rebuild by asking for sight of the relevant invoice & to check how well it's been serviced subsequently including whether the techies have listed any recent advisories (or the recent MOTs). I've a friend who bought a poorly described car(they thought it was a lesser powered version) from a large dealer & in that instance it was in his favour by the way.

Having looked at the advert I'd suggest that all those 'extras' have been spewed out using some sort of code or algorithm? There's no way somebody is going to type in all those listed extras, in that style/format to list a car for sale :what:

Look how many times 3-spoke steering wheel is mentioned :dont know:

Hi

The adverts made me laugh. You do certainly get certain types of car adverts. No descriptions at all vs cut and pate from the whole options list. I found this from their website quite amusing "Seat Belts in Silver Grey/Guards Red/Speed Yellow" I know Porsches can sometimes be optioned a little gregariously, but I have never seen those.

I bet their customer service shows the same care and attention.

Having advertised a few times on AT, it is quite annoying because you get presented with every conceivable extra and have to select/deselect these from a list.

Cutting the guy a little bit of slack, he maybe couldn't be arsed to go through the list properly, and at the bottom he has actually listed the real optional extras (five of them).

Whether you equate this lack of effort to the integrity/quality of a seller is a different matter, in my experience they are not always reflective, but you only really know once you've spoken to the seller. I know we like emails/texts when making initial contact, but you can learn a lot more about the seller by speaking to them.

Not sure this car is worth all of the effort though.
