Recycled Skateboard Gear Knob

I thought you may be interested in my new gear knob, maybe not to the purist's taste, but if you have a background in extreme sports culture it could be right up your street. He also does 917 style wooden knobs and other styles (the Martini livery knob pretty good).

I have been in the process of purchasing this for a few months, however the stainless shaft has been in development and hot off the press. I ended up trialing a prototype and helping him get to this finished product, however I think he is planning on making a few minor tweaks to help with ease of installation.

The shaft uses a 3D printed insert which allows it to fit the strange shaped gear stick of the 997 and his plan is to create different inserts to fit other Porsche model/generations. Installation took 5 minutes as pretty much a straight swap if you know the knack of removing the existing knob!

I am really impressed with the level of engineering that has gone into this from an independent Engineer/artist!

Prices looks very sensible for a handmade item - having watched the video I'm amazed tbh - looks like a lot of work.
Can I ask how much it was for everything?

Disclaimer: In all honesty, he gave me the knob and shaft free of charge in the end as I did my best to help him trial the prototypes and sent some dimensions/drawings. He is a genuine guy so wanted to help out with this post.

I think the knobs are between £60-80 depending on style, but you are best emailing him regarding the price for the shaft, as fortunately for me, we didn't get far enough to discuss this.

I should note, I will probably end up ordering a wooden one in the future to mix things up, at my cost! - I am that pleased with it.

He has just confirmed - £125 for the shaft, plus the cost of the knob. Examples of knob costs can be found on his website.

Sounds like he has plenty of preorders already!

Really like these, look well made and very reasonably priced! May well invest!
