928 GTS project

As the owner of a 928 S4, I am enjoying this story of love and attention.

The Blaupunkt unit is really very good and mates with the in situ amp very well. That amp is also a (heritage) Blaupunkt unit and has a lovely old school sound.

The speakers are of their day and there is no real bass. I fitted one of these into the spare wheel and it works brilliantly with the other speakers (same 10 speaker system as yours).

for bits and bobs, try Woodypeck - Steve has lots of goodies, including the all important Car of the Year 1978 sticker :thumb:

Loving the story as it develops... Rare to see a GTS with M474 option - Boge Sport shocks... Seems you got a bargain. Late car, hopefully with a linered engine. It would be great if you can share oil consumption figures...

The biggest improvement you can do the car now - change the suspension bushes. If you think of it now as a superb car, with new bushes, you would not drive anything else. Particularly, the upper A-arms at the front...

The Sony head unit was not OEM. Porsche supplied the 928 with Blaupunkt tape palayers or Becker CDs. Never anything else... There is a thread on the 928 section of Rennlist where you can post your VIN and the resident gurus will give you the full lowdown with regards to option codes etc..

P.S. Did it come with a mangled front under tray at all or was it missing completely? If it had a broken one, I am interested in buying the ducts off it

Not really done anything on the car since the last update, but it has had an MOT and has now made it to the bodyshop to get it looking great again.

Some parts being dealt with.

A couple of bits yet to be addressed.

Progress is being made at a decent pace, so hopefully out on the road in the not too distant future.

Cheburator, it didn't have any undertray on when I got it.

Once polished Martin, will you put some kind of protection on it?

I got the leather looked at by a local leather specialist.

Superb thread Martin - I don't know how I missed this before! - I nearly picked up a nice S4 in silver a couple of years ago. Still on my list, possibly next year! Still working on the 944 Turbo restoration.

Did you see the early 928 S2 race car that Porsche took to Goodwood? Took me a while to find any video footage of it, it sounded awesome and was louder than the more modern machinery that went up the hill in front and behind during the Porsche celebration event
