Introducing the White Knight

2 weeks ago, I saw a car pop-up that piqued my interest that was local to me. A 2011 GTS in Carrara White. I took along one of the NW members' most prolific P car buyers, Roddy. This was only going end one way. After a test drive and a good look over the car, it was absolutely clear that it was a cracker, but I wanted to be sure, so a deposit was slapped down.
A favour was called in and the car was sent to Bolton so I could have a good sniff underneath as i feel i know enough about this model rsnge to know a good one from a bucket of crud.
What I saw confirmed my initial suspicions, it's a cracker. The car looked like a 3 year old car underneath, immaculate, bar a small mist that Bolton wouldn't fix under a Porsche warranty initially as its only done 30k miles. They suggested it may reseal itself with use. No biggie. If it is a oriblem
ill sort it under warranty. The car is sporting new N2 tyres all round, 4 x discs and pads, along with new rear shocks. It was making a compelling arguement for itself to be acquired.
A week passed due to me being down south, and I could only get back to them on the last day of the month, conveniently :bandit: , and struck a deal. Old mate suggested there were going to be some sad people that had walk around videos sent to them during the week in case I didnt buy it, due to how many times they'd watched their vids.

So details, here are the headline specs
2011 Carrera GTS
Carrara White
Black leather
30K Miles
PDK
Sports Chrono
PSE
Dynamic Headlights
PCM with phone prep
Bose
Sports seats heated
Centrelock Spyder wheels in black.
Bose

My first PDK car, and its an experience I'm still getting used to. At the pointy end when pushing on, it's hard to complain. During normal driving is where I'm not sure about PDK. I have been assured by many that I will gel with it.
Bose is a significant improvement over the standard system in the 997.2's. A nice option to have.
The most notable thing I can say is the improvement on the PASM side of things. On my last 997.2, PASM was undriveable on the sports setting, shaking your teeth out. Not so with this, even in its firm setting its comfortable, so it was theorised that Porsche have either improved the software or there is a DSC box fitted. Time will tell when I have a proper snout around under the dash.
PSE vs Tubistyle exhaust. PSE is good, but it's no tubi. What an exhaust that was.
X51 delivers the speed differently from a standard S car. It's more linear than I recall from the S, where the S had a big shove of torque down low. Its a fine option to have
Lastly, the wide body is only 22mm wider on each side, but what an impact. Beautiful
That's my early observations on the GTS, and it's a great experience so far. Now for the porn

A few observations from me...

- you have x2 BOSE systems, wow

- please please please don't use that tyre gel again, I think there was more on my car than your tyres after a run

- Roddy, still makes me laugh

Very nice - congratulations and enjoy! :thumb:

I threw the remainder of the bottle in the bin, by the time I got home the White Knight looked like a Dalmatian. :what:
As for double Bose, I was distracted watching HRH get his new hat as I wrote it. :pc:

Congrats on the new steed Frank.
997 GTS in carrara, :worship:
Had mine for a couple of years when I had it 2012 - 2014, loved it.
What happened to the black engine grill :?:

Looks great. 2WD or 4wd GTS?

Do you have plans on which exhaust to fit already ;)?

Ah at last conformation that white is the (second) best colour :worship: and that PDK spanks manual  Your clearly not using it right at the moment mind....

Your exhaust was always the best thing about the last one :thumb: 997 is certainly looking like the best classic Porsche at the moment. So few about the prices look like going 993 in future :dont know: :?:

Nice one Frank, looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

997 had a 'proper' engine grill- painted, not black plastic :D

Yes, I must've been having another senior moment. :eek:ld:
Could've sworn the grill was black, just like the 991.
I've been trying to find an old pic or two of my old 997 GTS, maybe Terry's got one tucked away somewhere :?:

You really think that I'd be sad enough to keep a 10 year old photo of someone else's car and be able to find it after all this time. :?:

Oops
