Hi everyone, hoping to buy my first porsche sometime next time. The model im hoping to get is 996 turbo(Wide body with air intakes) I just wondered if anyone can advise on some of the common faults to look out for and also if theres anything i should look out for.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

You'll get a lot of personal feedback from the helpful members on here but it may take time. Whilst you're waiting have a long scroll down the threads on the 996 sub-forum concentrating on those with turbo in the thread title and you'll find masses of useful info.

Wisdom normally proffered on here is to have any 911 inspected by an independent specialist once you've found a likely car and have done your own due diligence re service history etc.

Any 996 will be at least 16 years old so take care. The upside of considering a turbo is that engine concerns are the least likely issues but any parts needed, even basics like discs and pads or radiators, can be expensive.

If you find a good one you won't regret it.

Happy Hunting.

Welcome on board!

As said above, usual 996 stuff like suspension components, brakes, brake lines, radiators, aircon condensers are all weak areas to inspect.

I don't know a lot about Turbos, but gearboxes, actuators and coolant pipes seem to feature frequently as issues.
