Is my outer CV joint worn?? Advice needed

Hi All

I stripped down my front left wheel to remove my front shock after it decided to take a wee all over my drive. After removal I found the top of the shock rusted through to the seal, it was quite shocking, pardon the pun.

Anyway, whilst doing this I also found the CV boot split with grease coming out. I removed the old boot and cleaned up the grease. In the video clip below do you think my CV joint is worn???

If not, can I replace the outer boot with out Removing the whole drive shaft?

To replace the boot you need to remove the inner CV joint which means drive shaft out jobbie.

It does appear you have some unwanted play so best to replace it.

As an update as it may help others.

I sent the driveshaft away to a company called driveshaft uk. They charge around £80 for pick up, clean out the old grease repack and re boot inner and outer. IF the CV is worn they Re machine, repair and reboot including delivery for £160.

Turns out my outer CV is ok which is in the video. They said all have some movement and mine wasn't worth worrying about. They cleaned and re booted and returned for £80. It should turn up tomorrow, I'll post a picture.

Yes I could have done it myself for around £40 but I wasn't sure about the movement in the CV.
