Is it just me or is this car cheap?
Looking around it seems to me starting price for gen 2 is closer to £40k or am I looking in the wrong place?
Also - did anyone note the car has different exhaust in some of the photos- bit weird?

It's about right, S are nearer £40k but 3.6 were around mid £30k about this time last year when I was looking.
Aftermarket exhaust (it's not the sports exhaust - PSE) probably.

Yes, seems cheap, especially for a PDK, even on a private sale. I'd have thought 34-35 more typical, 39-40 at a specialist. That tailpipe is bizarre, worth sending an enquiry!

I've just put the reg in the Autotrader value my car app.

That autotrader app is quite accurate. Put my 997 about 1k less than is expect but it would not adjust for options/condition

It also put my Clio trophy about right and recognised the limited build numbers.

Good find

I'd of thought That's not over cheap, it's about right for an 08 car with 50k plus on the clock. I bought my very late 08 car last Year with 30 k on clock, FMDSH, 2 year Porsche warranty, all conceivable extras for 38. At the time there were a few 08 cars appearing for low 30's.It shows there holding money reasonably well, mine would probably be up now for mid 30's. That car wouldn't be up close to 40 at a specialist, probably closer to 35. Looks nice car

Ah yes, my mistake, the mileage isn't going to help, but I'm out by a few K there. My local Indie (RSJ) have a 58 plate C2 PDK with a better spec than that car for £38k

Not a mistake really prices vary, alls I'll say is my car was 38K from 991V 6 months ago, had a better speck than the car you mention AND 2 year Porsche warranty, and mint condition low mileage, so either my car is not depreciating at all or that car is overpriced? But this is the thing with gen 2 cars they are holding price very well, and dealers generally overprice them for sale.

The good thing about gen 2 non S, is some dealers only want S, so you can get a discount normally, I couldn't on mine the colour was too rare I got about 500 I think, but looking back was reasonably priced anyway, and 911 V one of the few dealers I would go too.

Gen 2 Carerra is a bit of a bargain and realistically prices are dropping a bit, not many 08's about but they are cheaper due to being older than the majority of gen 2's on 9-10 plates. Of course with a private plate a gen 2 is a gen 2

How very odd! I was reading this post as I found the discussion on gen 1 v gen 2 really interesting and then my car gets discussed.

Mine is the 997.2 C2 that is (was) for sale. The car originally had the standard C2 back boxes, but I wanted the PSE, but I dint want the £2k bill from Porsche. So one of the forum members on here sold me the C2S back boxes with the gundo hack that bypasses the side silencers. Makes the car sound much better, but still not as good as my old 997.1 C2S. I have the original exhaust in the garage, but even the one on the car is a modified original Porsche system.

I am also a 997.2 fanboy. Having owned a 997.1 C2S and a 997.2 C2, I would take the base 997.2 every day of the week...so many improvements!

As for selling the car, I have had a change of heart. I was going to try to free up some cash, but having looked around for a cheaper alternative, I have realised that this is the best car I have ever owned and I going to keep it. I love the colour and it's in tip top condition.

That may change in the future... But I just love this car too much. As for the PDK... Having also been a manual fan, it is just the best of both worlds!

Cheers

Quite funny! I had in the back of my mind there was a member on here by the name of Ben with a BS number plate and I was wondering if this was a members car.
So that's cleared that up. Did look good value - great to hear you are sticking with it.

It's good to hear such positive reports of the 997.2 C2, gives people like me with a C2S an attractive option when the time comes, the step all the way to 991 is a big one

Honestly, having owned both, the 997.2 is like a new model rather than just a face lift. I understand why owners want to defend the 997.1 because its a great great car, but a few weeks in a 997.2 and you realise its a huge step forward.

I love the 997.2 to bits.... love the rear lights, love the PCM 3, love the DRL's, but most of all love the PDK and the new engines.

Plus, I know forums make problems seem worse than they are, but having suffered a scored bore on my 997.1 and seen the sheer number of issues with the gen 1 scored bores, I personally sleep much much easier with a gen 2 on my drive way.

Cheers

Ben

I'm one of those who occasionally gets defensive when the same stuff gets trotted out over and over again, we all know there are too many undeserving owners that have had a bad experience, the best commentary is constructive.

Like the majority, my car is in good shape. I love it and look after it and have it suitably covered with a warranty etc., so I sleep soundly too. Sound idea to keep your C2 by the way :thumb:

Agreed, a warranty on a gen 1 takes away all the worry. They are awesome cars and I loved my 997.1 C2S.

I'm also glad I have decided to stick with my C2. You never know if you will get a chance to own one again, and you mevet know what life will throw at you... Do I'm going to enjoy it while I can!

I don't think anyone's dissing 997.1 s? Warranty is key  But then I'd worry about the warranty! I'm Just a worrier especially where cars are concerned, trouble is when your experience is 50/50 with a watercooled Porsche you will be more worried than most- I had a Boxster and a 996 and one had started the dreaded problems ( I think) I didn't keep it long enough to find out for sure mind, so all my worry may be based on nothing
