Blocked rear drains cause issues as in previous models .. the drains on these are difficult to get at .. the correct procedure is to remove the side panels to gain access ..
I will say .. on a service these drains are often not cleared out .. nuff said there .
Car i had in with roof inop .. it wouldn't latch in place .. fault codes for switches .. the car doesnt know the position of the roof motors both sides basically .
Blocked drains had allowed water to get into the wiring .. these wiring plugs are not water protected and as such ANY water reaching these will corrode the wiring ... this model had several missing pins due to corrosion.
I had to remove the roof assembly and then strip and replace the wiring looms along with both micro switches both sides .. all had corroded wiring .
This particular car and the owner was concerned about this issue and had been rodding the tubes to keep them clear .. it didn't work .
On a service i have a technique for getting an air gun into the tubes to blow them out .. the correct procedure though is to remove the side panels to gain access to these drain tubes .
Images below of a 12 hr roof removal ... strip and a replacement of all the looms and switches .. no pictures of the looms i'm afraid but enough to give you an idea of the work involved .
We charged 8 hrs as this was the first roof strip / rebuild we had done ... i had to follow instructions hence the allowance .
