The PCM in my 981 Cayman has played up trying to reboot itself randomly while operating for the first time. The Porsche logo followed by Cayman logo and then to a random DAB channel with no activity, does not read CD or load the Nav. It’s done this about 15 times in an hour!
Funny enough there is no space for OPC to check it out till end of Feb 24. The MOT will be due beginning of Feb .. Will it be a failure?
It’s under OPC warranty so hopefully will be fixed one way or the other. I did not attempt to reset as diagnostics might fail when looked at by OPC.
Is it one of those common issues with PCM in 981 models?
Many thanks

sorry to hear Slayer
quick google shows its a common problem -likely new headunit required -good you have a warranty!

Hope to get it in for diagnosis and replacement soon. Thanks

I think the hard drive has gone. You’ve warranty so they’ll whack a new unit in, otherwise a specialist or enthusiastic amateur can put in a SSD as an upgrade.

Finally got it into OPC Bristol. Diagnosis = Hard disc done, so new PCM unit under warranty!
Another strong reason to have an OPC warranty! 👍
