Bearing (orig/replacement): As far as I'm aware original
Comment: having an inspection at a local specialist in a couple weeks. They have already recommended replacing the IMS at a cost of £1300 plus vat.
Save your money. If you do decide you want to change a perfectly good bearing for an unknown one, the best replacement would be a standard off the shelf bearing for around £30 and to have the job done, budget around a few hours labour. Whoever quoted you £1300 + VAT is ripping you off with an inferior product, unless of course they're talking about removing the engine, stripping it and replacing the IMS assembly with the later 997.2 design shaft, in which case would be a bargain.
