Hi in a bit of a panic, I've had this message come up in white plus lost drive and reverse completely luckily not to far away from home have been able to get it home awaiting RAC for diagnosis , I've no idea anyone got any solutions or potentially any remedies as reading it's telling me it could be terminal, 2009 PDK c2s ANY help appreciated
Thanks

For Tiptronic cars when there is a transmission problem the car defaults to 4th gear and won't shift from that. It's colloquially known as 'limp home' mode.

It's something that will have to be looked at by a Porsche specialist.

Fingers-crossed for you that it's not something serious.

Sounds grim and if you look on PCGB and Rennlist forums it couold be anything from a new box to a failed temperature sensor or coil packs :?

Porsche will not repair PDK gearboxes they only offer a straight replacement but the better news is there are companies that will now repair them so save a £12k bill.

Get an diagnosis first and work from there. If it helps there is a user 'ATM' on PH that ended up having the PDK gearbox to his 'Aquaplaned Boxster' repaired contray to many naysayers who said it couldn't be done.

It's always been known round my manor as 'limp dick' mode.

I used to have an 850i that was always doing it. Turned out to be the MAF.

Update I've got p1731, 1732 and 1733 displacement sensors fault codes I guess this is serious but is it repairable again any suggestions much appreciated

I'm not sure about the fault codes mine was throwing when I had the exact same error message but it was fixed by replacing the PDK ECU.

Only smptom I had was refusing to come out of park. It was fine once in drive.

If memory serves it was approx a £500 fix which is rather more palatable than the ~12k for a new pdk box, although, as per others, some will repair.

Fingers crossed it's something simple on yours

Displacement sensor fault .. this can be replaced but its a total strip down of the box .. very few garages will take this on i'm afraid .. so whilst possible .. finding someone will be the issue .

yes i have seen this fault before . Software fault is indeed possible , hard to go further as i cant see the car but the sensors can fail .

This garage in The Netherlands repair PDKs and have had cars shipped to them from the UK I believe, some info on diagnosis/fault codes on their site also:
https://www.porsche-versnellingsbak-revisie.nl/pdk-problemen/

T-Design have supplied their replacement Shifter Displacement Sensor to a number of UK repair shops, worth contacting them for the latest list and advice:
- Herts&Beds Transmissions
- Porscha Werks
- Ninemeister

Keep us posted!

I've just had this pop up on my 2011 PDK.
Came on when idling in heavy rain yesterday. I switched off ignition and restarted and it was clear so not sure what to do now. Suspect that it may be wet coil packs as car has been outside for a few weeks but who knows.

Presumably need to get codes read or take to garage?

Mine was doing this more and more regularly across last winter. Turned out to be a faulty coil pack. Replaced them all with the plugs at the 12 year service and its been perfect since.

Yup! It was Coil Pack no 3. Changed full set and plugs and it is night and day - performance wise.
