Tiptronic paddles

I fitted the gps adapter along with a 997.2 steering control unit which only gave me the horn and paddles, apparently there is yet another adapter which allows the buttons to work, I have a friend who suggested getting in touch with a company called 'connects2" which I did, they suggested refitting the original pcm and getting the controls to work with that then they could supply a unit to overcome the issue. I have found another unit which a guy fitted in the US, I believe made by a company called 'Paser" which will convert the signal, I have the car going back to my Indy for other work so the first port of call is to get them to check the coding is exactly as instructed from the manufacturer of the gps unit as I should have had volume controls out of the box then I'll look at regaining the other functions, as it stands I'm on holidays currently so I'll get back on it next week.

There is a 996 conversion here .. no idea if it works on a 997 but it gives you something to read and digest ... http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=97582

A paddle based steering wheel is the easier option though as far as i'm aware .

I've just done a very similar thing on my 997TT - literally just refitted the steering wheel this morning!

This step-by-step guide tells you everything you need to know: https://rennlist.com/forums/attachm...-1-cayman-s-diy_paddle_shift_cayman_987_1.pdf

It's a huge improvement to the driving experience, first time I've bothered to use the car in manual because I really do not like the thumb buttons. It wasn't hard, took a couple of hours which included adding inline resistors as I have a multi-function wheel.

Would definitely recommend it as a modification, cost me about £60 IIRC including some new Mercedes paddles.
