Sudden weird clutch pedal feel

I managed to bleed mine this morning - the first effort went nowhere as I was trying to do it without filling the bleed tank on the eezibleeder and just ended up introducing air, the second time worked a charm and now I have a normal clutch pedal with a biting point in the middle.

I did notice fluid in the bleed nipple cap when I removed it, and also on a couple of the caliper bleed nipples. I cleaned them up and retested and couldn't see any fluid coming out so hoping it's just leftover.

I bled the brakes a couple of weeks ago and wondering if I managed to introduce air. I think the reservoir did get quite low, although I never touched the clutch pedal.

I know spinnaker or chowgar had the system bled and it lasted a few weeks so not crossing anything, we shall see.

Fingers crossed for you!

Brief update - slave cylinder replaced, same problem. Next up is the master cylinder.

Thanks for sharing. Good luck with the master. Changing the master really improved my similar situation. I have a consistent clutch pedal feel low which is much better than before.

Thanks, I'm not entirely confident it will fix the issue but it's the next obvious item I guess.

I'm sure this all started after bleeding the brakes and letting the fluid drop below the clutch feed line - I'm racking my brain trying to figure that all out - surely the only fix is to bleed the system, which has been done 3 times now! Strange.

Are you bleeding it with a pressure bleeder thingy? Took my mechanic numerous ages getting it bled right when I had my last clutch done.

Hi, yes I bought one of those sealey vs820 with the pump.

Funny you say that, the Porsche specialist had trouble also, apparently they had to do it a couple of different ways.

I'm following the pdf I've seen - 30 seconds pedal to floor, 60 seconds slow pump

Don't forget that both myself and Spinnaker recently had the same symptoms as you and it was indeed the clutch master cylinder that was faulty.

It should be arriving today so will report back in a few days.

DeMort yes that's the process I'm following, gives me a great clutch pedal each time, if only for a couple of days!

What would a porsche mechanic do, after replacing the slave and master, if the problem is still persistent?

Call deMort

Touch wood all still working much better for me. Fingers crossed it sorts your issue out.

Happy to report that replacing the master cylinder looks to have resolved the issue :)

I noticed when pumping the pedal during bleeding that the new master cylinder was silent. All the other times I bled the old master cylinder I could hear fluid swishing around - having never bled a clutch before I just figured this was normal! So definitely a symptom to look out for, for anyone reading this in the future.

Another happy customer! 8)

It is interesting as the well respected local indie i used recently said he could remember only having to do this on a few occasions over the last 10+. I think the was skeptical that a new master cylinder would fix the issue but it certainly seems to have done.
