Steering column reach adjustment lever jammed

Hi. I've been looking at getting a 996, my first Porsche. There's one I'm considering, however a really annoying thing is the lever to adjust the steering wheel reach is jammed and the reach can't be adjusted. It was picked up on an inspection; is this a common thing? Is it just a case of squirting a load of WD40 down the shaft to get it to free up?
