The ballast resistors will be shot. They're expensive too. You can replace them with cheap ballast resistors from RS:

I suspect the same Alex, just want to rule out its not the fan itself first. Thanks for the links, very useful :thumb:

UPDATE - bridged the low & high speed fan relays and the drivers side fan kicked in to life with the car running and air con on. Resistors should be delivered tomorrow!

The bung turned up in quick time thanks to Alex's speedy turnaround so it was time to remove the Helmholtz box from the air box. Easy enough job, most of the time was spent trying to remove one of the airbox bolts/nuts that had broken & seized in place!

Actually managed to remove it without breaking any of the plastic. And then noticed part of it was broken underneath anyway!

Anyway, the rest of the process -

Nice & simple. Took it for a quick drive earlier and whilst I can't say I noticed any immediate difference I'm sure the car is breathing better now less of the filter is essentially blocked.
