Chaps,

Can anyone recommend a condensor for my 997 turbo? I need to replace them again second time in a few years even though the car has done only a few hundred miles. I had the die test and they are both leaking.

Originals are £200 each from OPC (last time I checked)

Had a quote from a specialist of £1,000 to fit them and gas them. Thought I'd do it myself and replace the radiators whilst I'm in there.

Well gee, not sure who to answer first!

Just got a quote from OPC Stockport and they are actually £266.48 EACH!

Behr Hella I believe are the porsche oem condensers.

I bought the cheapest after-market ones I could find on eBay. 8 years of daily use and nearly 80k miles later and they still look like new.

If inc of VAT that sounds pretty good for an OPC. Design911 want £296 + VAT for them.

The Behr Hella ones are over £200 on Autodoc. Hella ones are cheaper but like the ones Alex posted are silver not black like OEM. Be easy enough to spray them before fitting though if it bothered you.

I picked up a couple of new OEM ones a few months ago on ebay, cost me £175 each.

Truth of it is they are probably not as good as the ones Alex listed above, but like you I am planning on fitting them myself and did not want to risk fitment issues etc that I have heard about with some non OEM.

One of mine has been leaking for 5+ years (slight damp patch) and has only recently started making noises due to low gas but AC still works fine.

Surprised they are both leaking after so little time/ mileage. Is it leaking from the core (stone damage), or sides? I doubt they have rotted out in that time. If it is the sides I guess it could be the O-rings drying/ leaking if you have not been using the car much.

Rads - if you're happy with non-oem upgrades worth checking out CSF versions.
Will no doubt outlast OEM versions.

Don't forget OWM O rings and reciever dryer for the A/C :thumb:

I think I got mine from Design 911, went and bought extra seals not realising they come with the seals included. Also changed the drier as well.
Got the system discharged by a local garage, they then recharged it back up again afterwards and I sold the car not long after.
I did fit mine in the silver but after washing the car a few times I realised they didn't look right so sprayed them black and they looked far better.
Think I was about £200 for the pair inc the drier and £50 for the discharge/recharge.
As others have said they're a doodle to fit. The hardest part is getting the shroud off but at least you have a chance to clean out the ducts and put on a grill to stop the crud getting in.
Here's some pics:

CSF don't make condensers at least that's what the guy told me when I asked them. I have CSF radiators on order which I'll replace when I do the job.

I've no idea how they compare to OEM or other aftermarket items, but Rennline have listings for CSF condensers. So, I'd expect them to be available from other resellers too.

A few more options here : AutoDoc

Double check the part number that I used (99757391102) I'm not 100% sure it's the correct one.
