Hi folks,

Saying hello again after being away from Porsche ownership for 5 years!

I made the decision to sell my 997.2 C2S back in 2018 to finance our holiday home in Spain.

After a few years of having a W205 C63 daily I decided to get back into a 911 since I am enamoured with how they drive and wanted to enjoy one while it was still possible to find good examples. Having scoured the classifieds for some time I was lucky to spot a really lovely example and snapped it up 2 days after it posted!

I picked her up a few weeks a go, a 997.1 C2S this time around.

Spec is lovely with the following options:

XLF Sports exhaust system
XMZ Leather centre console
XPA Thicker steering wheel
XRR 19" Carrera Sport wheels in GT Silver incl. colored Porsche crest
XSB Leather sports seat backrests
XSH Silver gray seat belts
X97 Gear lever knob with aluminium inlay
X98 Handbrake lever with aluminium inlay
026 Sport Chrono
267 Automatically dimmable mirrors
268 Rain sensor
377 16-way adaptive sports seat, left
378 16-way adaptive sports seat, right
09971 Exclusiv Manufaktur

A couple of rare items there including the thicker steering wheel. I'm not a huge fan, I'm a stickler for their traditional thin wheels. I'll be putting an alcantara GT3 wheel and gear knob/gaiter on her anyway which will tie in nicely with the alcantara roof lining. The only item I wish she had is heated seats, but couldn't let her pass. I would have liked a GT Silver one with cocoa interior as I had a 986.2S 50th Anniversary back in 2010 and loved the colour combo. Given the extra leather in the cabin in the centre console and seat backs, it feels that bit more special inside.

You have to buy on condition and she's in outstanding fettle, testament to the previous owners. First owner had her for 12 years! Service history is great, 9 stamps (6 OPC + 3 specialist). Just rolled over 54,000 miles. I've put 700 on her so far and hasn't used a drop of oil. Borescope inspection showing no damage on any cylinders.

I just replaced the clutch, clutch slave cylinder, Nickel brake pipe above the gearbox, engine mounts and gearbox mount. Works done at Cavendish Porscha, highly recommended by the way. Simon there is fantastic.

Up and over coolant pipes were changed recently, they were like new when inspecting with the box out recently. Coolant cross over pipes also recently done. Had rear dampers, top mounts & bump stops as well as front top mounts & bump stops. Aligned 3 months ago at Centre Gravity.

Has a near new PCCM+ in her too. Interior was out and reconditioned professionally as well as steering wheel and gear shifter re-trimmed. Alloys recently refurbished (they're my favourite style on the 997!), new PS2 rubber all round. She's just about perfect!

Looking forward to doing plenty of miles. My one regret with my last one is that I didn't drive it enough in the 4 years I owned her, so will be addressing that!

A few mods in the OEM+ spirit are planned including:

a. Aerokit front bumper.
b. GT3 rear bumper. No aero spoiler, love the clean deck lid look.
c. Exhaust (exact TBD but leaning towards M&M full system if I can figure out a means of getting a centre exhaust exit set-up).
d. Cruise Control retrofit.
e. GT3 shifter.
f. B16 or Ohlins coilovers, more research / test drives required.
g. As and when a rebuild may be required in a few years, Hartech 3.9 conversion with some intake & balancing work etc. to get close to 400bhp.

Plenty of build pics and DIY tinkering posts to come!

Welcome mate. That looks lovely. I know what you mean with the clean wingless decklid. Sounds like you've got some great plans to compliment it and make it your own.

There are a few sets of coilovers on eBay at the moment (Ohlins, etc). Not sure on general condition, but may be worth a look and may sway your decision. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I have the B16 damptronic and love them.

Lovely car.
It's a 4.1 conversion now - and around 385 bhp, but bags more torque.

Welcome back!

Think I remember seeing this advertised when I was looking for my new one. Was the seller based somewhere around Sheffield? It was one of the best adverts I'd seen with a lot of info and sounded very well cared for. Enjoy! :thumb:

Thanks for the info!

Out of interest, do you feel that the B16's in sport can be used on the road at all or are they far too over damped? I've read conflicting views on that, but of course it's a personal thing.

Yep, yep, that's right! It's been very well cared for, it's nice to see folks looking after cars. If there are folks out there looking, keep the faith! There are good examples out there still.

It has a 40Ah Lithium battery from Anti Gravity with a bluetooth monitoring unit, nice bit of kit by the way!

They are great in both normal and sport, however that's mainly because I have also added the DSC module. Without the DSC it's jiggly like the stock set up. A passive system wouldn't be, of course but any PASM system is going to be hindered by the factory software. It's definitely an improvement, don't get me wrong, but the DSC is the cherry on top. 👍

Welcome back, if you decide to sell the thick wheel pm me, looking to replace the 3 spoke in my 996 at some point

Congrats on the new purchase Loko! Whilst you're fitting the Aerokit front bumper, you may want to do a 3rd radiator installation. I did that to my 997 some years back and documented the build on here. Extra cooling on these pre-DFI Gen 1 997s is always a welcome addition.

Congrats from here too, however, on the subject of the 3rd radiator, Hartech suggested that it is not an improvement on a manual C2S. I had fitted the 3rd radiator as I too had heard it was a useful improvement. In the end I blanked off the radiator air inlet and just left it so it provides a bit extra capacity of cooling fluid but not extra actual cooling. I gather the 3rd rad is actually for the PDK cars. Happy to be proven wrong though?

jl-c, yes I had also read (admittedly after fitment) that Hartech said there was no need for a third rad on the pre-DFI cars. I had mixed feelings afterwards. I had also fitted a low-temp thermostat too. Post-fitment, my oil temp readings dropped about 5C below the normal (good thing i was led to believe). Previously, oil temps had been at the normal and on some occasions (when driving hard) the temp had risen. I had read that fitting these things would lead to less sooting of the left hand side tail pipes which was a reflection of the inefficiency of the engine bank holding cylinders 4,5 & 6 of the M-97 engine. So, in the end, I decided to keep the third rad in place and upon the sale, the next buyer seemed only too keen to have these things fitted by myself. A boroscope examination in 2018 by that buyer showed very very slight scoring for a then 12 year old car. Was it a result of the 3rd rad and the low temp thermo stat? Who knows?!

You are right about the automatics however; all tiptronics came with a third rad but that was to cool the transmission fluid. I don't know if the 997 PDK models had them fitted.

welcome back

those Carrera Sport wheels are gem's
