I got an advisory a year ago on one of the rear drop links.

Not wanting to piece meal it I just bought all new rear suspension, including shocks, springs, every arm etc.

However, I haven't had time to fit it and now the MOT is looming so Im considering just doing the drop links for now but they look like they are hard to get to - car is a 996.2 and the drop link is on the bottom of the Strut.

Any advice?

They're a piece of piss, very easy to do.

Could be done without jacking the car up tbh

LOL, wish mine were, they were corroded solid into the bottom of the shock, had to resort to cutting the ball of the joint off, getting a socket and breaker bar on the hex flats and lots of heat and penetrating fluid before it came out.

On the rears? The fronts I agree are a nightmare but the rears are pretty simple, although I've only done one pair.

Yes the rears, don't get me started on the fronts.........utter ball ache.

I thought rears were a right ball ache due to access to the nut on the shocks?

Fronts are a doddle.

Rears are very easy. I remove and adjust the bar without jacking up on track days. No access issues

How do you get your spanner inside that shocker bracket?

You don't, it is a captive nut, just unscrew from the outside with an open ended spanner.

Easy this wasn't....... Now it should be easy and achievable without even jacking the car up but 20 years of rubbish in the exposed threads of the bolts made it a nightmare.

I dropped the ARB and in the end just cut the drop links.

I had to cut the ball of one of the balljoints to hold with a 6 sided socket before removing the nut with an Impact Gun.

The drop links into the shocks came out nice and easy until the threads gummed up, so a change of tack for me and I will fit all the new rear suspension parts vs just do the drop links.

The rollbar is away getting powerdcoated and started on replacing the o/s rear suspension yesterday. As a nice surprise, both eccentric bolts came out without issue. The two ball joint nuts however were a right pain but got everything apart now ready for re-build.

Are you stripping the plastic coating off the roll bar and having it powder coated? You'll loose an amount off the diameter doing that and may cause problems.

Yes I plan to measure with a micrometer when it comes back and select appropriate ARB Bushes size based off that. It was way too grotty to go back on but a new one is 300GBP +

Rollbar looks good, as does all new rear suspension. Time for 4 wheel alignment and MOT.

Few Pics of the rest, was a bigger job than I expected although all the eccentric bolts undid and came out without issue. I really didnt expect this as they are believed to be original.
