I am guessing that the aerokit makes speed bumps a serious problem? It's way to easy to ground the front gently on speed bumps without it!

Save yourself £10k and get this one :)

WOW Sports seats , bose , PSE, CARRERA SPORT 19", SPORT CHRONO, PASM, ALLUMINIUM STEERING WHEEL.
and all in midnight blue. you could get that for 19k get an 8k Hartech rebuild and have a bullet proof car with higher BHP and still 5k in the bank of your 32k budget. THAT A NO BRAINER FOR ME . :thumb:

120k miles

Trouble is spend 8K on it and its still worth 20k !!

What even with a Hartech rebuild, I would have thought that it would have been worth more like 25k and as it would be a keeper by the time the OP sold it it would have gone up in value as they are slowly doing and he would get all his money back or at minimum only loose a small amount which to drive one of these cars is a great position to be in.
The hartech cars are in the future going to be the most sought after and if its running higher BHP done during the rebuild even more sought after.
I genuinely believe that if the OP kept the car 5 years and had spent 27/28k that he would get his money back or very close to it.

Everyone's got an opinion and yours is obviously the most important regarding spec/colour. I always consider selling a new car as part of the buying process if that makes sense. Hence IMO I agree regarding the grey interior with most on here, dated and not preferable to most owners. I prefer baltic black but the blue looks nice too. £32k is a really good budget to get a really nice 997. Don't discount a nice 997 because it hasn't got a GT3 spoiler, nice wheels etc. You can add these as you go and this adds to the enjoyment of ownership IMO. Drive as many as you reasonably can.

Black on black and every price will come down!

I've just traded my Atlas Grey X51 top spec car I to 911Virgin. It been inspected in the bores. All OK. Every bit of paperwork since new. No gt3 kit but a very nice car. No pics on there website yet but you'd be hard pushed to find a better example.

You have a point, but what if the OP is done in 6 months, it happens !

All the evidence is that a Hartech rebuild or any other rebuild doesn't add to the value of a car. In fact a rebuilt engine can put many people off. These engine rebuilds aren't about more BHP. They tend to be eighteen to fix a broken engine or do some preventative hypothetical reliability proofing. All engines will at some point need a rebuild but I'd hope to get to at least 150K before having to think about that. I wouldn't say no to a car with an engine rebuild but I'd be reluctant to plunge thousands into one in the belief that I'll get my money back when I go to sell the car on.

I'd say that would be worth a look. 911virgin are picky, also have an excellent post-sales reputation.

I agree re gt3 kit. Superficial compared to the important things like engine.

Don't rush in and later regret!

P.S. Talking of important things, does it have a rear wiper :D

It is interesting as there are always differing opinions and thats the idea of a forum you listen to all the arguments and take what you want from the info.
Now an X51 kit is far better than an aero kit as that can be added later on but the X51 is a great place to start . :thumb:

That's a whole lot of car for the money agreed.

Would I be correct in saying as it's a 2006 car the IMS problem would be less likely to raise it's head?

The IMS was fixed later in 2005. I've only seen a handful of 2006 cars with the earlier IMS. They are usually strange colour combinations, like beige interior for example, so may of been 2005 builds but sat in the dealer network for a while and so been reg'd in 2006. You can check if its on the list as the engine (?) number of the changeover is known. Search for it, it's on here somewhere.

Have to echo what people are saying about Aerokit. You can easily add it, but get a good car in the first place rather than limit yourself to only cars with it.

As to mileage, some people will hate the idea of a high mileage car, but if you speak to Portiacraft it really isn't an issue, as long as you look after it properly. Depends, if you are going to use it and put 10 to 15k miles on it every year, a high price low mileage car doesn't make sense. Get an average one, or a high one. If you do 2k miles in it, then a low mileage makes sense!

Very true.

This is purely a weekend car and won't get used during the week unless I fancy taking it out for a b road blast.

I'm beginning to realise that people are making a lot of sense in saying don't limit yourself to a car that has a GT3 kit as they're very scarce on the ground.

I've been looking through RSJ Sports Cars stocklist and they seem to have the best selection of cars that meet my requirements within a reasonable distance of where I live.

It's only a 2 hour drive from me so I may well go down and have a look at what they have to offer. Their website seems to read very well and gives a great 1st impression.

I've never dealt with RSJ but plenty of people have on here. Opinions please people? I always worry as they have such a massive selection of cars it leads me to think they aren't that picky, though I have no basis for that so would be great to here some reviews of them.

As a note, I brought mine without seeing it in the flesh, had it delivered, had a couple of things sorted after the event by a great dealer (Harrogate, I live in Hertfordshire!) so don't discount that route from a good dealer!

That's a great idea mate find the right car colour history mileage etc. then add your personalisation eg. an aero kit.
