Help please, locked out Drivers Door - 996

Hi,

I wondered if you could help? At the moment I am having to climb out of the passenger door to get out of the car when driving! :-(

My external drivers locking door handle stopped working, it turned out it was completely rusted through on the linkage shaft after 25 years (see pics of mine on my jeans and another off the site to show in situ). We ordered the new part, took out the handle and replaced it.

The internal handle worked fine before it is worth noting.

Also, the window did not fully go up into the door recess before I noticed, it used to whistle at higher speeds, clearly some sort of microswitch issue here before (as well as the outer handle physically not being connected by rust).

So, having done the shaft linkage job the door handle worked PERFECTLY or the first time in a month or two, then... we locked the car, pleased another task had been done.. except..

..now since key fob locking the car neither inside NOR outside handle work.

I have managed to get the interior door card off so can access the door internals (see pic).

Any tips please?!

Happy Easter !

I assume you've probably fixed this by now but i fitted a new door latch last night. It was a bit fiddly getting the lock barrel connected to the slot in the door latch assembly.

If it has moved out of position it could be stopping the latch from unlocking.

(I also missed connecting the part you replaced back up first time but this only affected the outer handle)

I'm struggling to get past the bit where you climb out of the car while driving
