Help: Engine Lid won't close

The engine lid won't close properly on my 996 C4S :what:. The lid goes all the way down but the latch doesn't lock properly.

I went for a drive after a few weeks off the road, followed by a car wash. Teach me not to clean it in the future! It's not the battery as it was on CTEK and the front opens fine. I have tried WD40 in the latch in case the mechanism is ceased. Anything else I should check please?

The lock isn't in the closed position is it?

Sorry but i had to ask .. with these locks you can push the middle part down by hand and it will lock .. try that .. if it doesn't then a new lock is required or the cable/solenoid that operates the lock is jammed and holding it in the unlock position .

Thanks Demort, it looks like the lock is in open position as the lid sits flush. I could be wrong though. I will check properly tomorrow in better light.

I am not sure if it has anything to do with water getting in somewhere as it happened after the car wash.

Pictures please .. i can see then as im guessing atm ... i can also edit if needed to say press this bit and what happens then .

water .. unlikely but i never say never !

Release cable stuck open?

I am not sure if the photos attached are clear. I can see the release cable attached. Thanks for your help guys.

I also noticed that when I press the frunk button there is a clicking noise but no similar clicking noise for the rear latch. I can't remember if that's normal?

I was planning to get the car serviced so decided take it to the Porsche specialist.
The issue turned out to be the rear lid actuator, which resolved the issue.
