Hi - anyone on here have any experience with hnr coilovers for a 993?
I had my heart set on b6xt from carnewal with hnr springs - no lead times at present .
Full disclosure-this is get atleast 60mm down.
I have had kw clubsports on my 964 in the past and whilst incredibly low - was still very comfortable.
Just can’t get my head around 4k for suspension - particularly when I can get these for £1250 delivered.

Searched hear and renn and have nothing but springs info.

Thx in advance

KW for £1250?? Last time I looked they were 3-4000

Ahh I think I misunderstood, well "you get what you paid for" is not an exact science by any degree but in the world of suspension and dampers there is a lot of data and it tends towards the specialists which tend to cost more.

I myself am an example of a "sort of exception" because I wanted/still want Ohlins/KW but I settled for Koni special actives, firstly the high level/cost coilovers were not only too expensive for me at the time but were getting negative reports (Ohlins spring rates I think) for crap British roads whereas the far cheaper Koni special actives were getting great recommendations from the suspension specialists.

I can confirm that the Koni special actives (in my case with H&R lowering springs) are extremely good, I am a 1000cc sports biker and on that I wouldn't settle for anything less than Ohlins but in a road performance car on British roads Koni special actives really are a good choice.

I have experience of H&R Coilovers - the tech is a bit old school now and they are revalved Bilstein HDs. They are well made and ride well, mine however were RS+10mm. I've no clue what -60mm would be, but with some of these dampers you can run out of travel. I think it is essential to change the bump stops to ensure these are not what you're actually riding on most of the time.

No experience of Koni on a 993, my only issue with them is that they appear to rust really, really quickly. I have expience of the KWV3, nicely made, and the low speed ride was very, very good when set up right (basically the KW recommended numbers).

^^ thanks for this . I believe the kit comes with bump stops. I’ve been trying to get b6xt’s from carnewal but no lead times.

That’s interesting info on the KWs , I didn’t go with them as the spring rates looked to be very stiff (I’ve had V3s before, they were very good on an E46 M3, and terrible on a Monaro), I ended up going with a Centre Gravity recommendation of Billies re valved to match the stock dampers and Eibach springs

When I bought my car it was on worn original shocks with H&R springs, it was mega low! However I never actually hit any speed bumps or anything, once you add spacers and/or 18 inch wheel you might get in to issues tho.

Now on Konis and M033. See original height below!IMG_7735.jpegIMG_7736.jpegIMG_7721.jpeg

Fitted this week despite my car being ‘hot’ I’ve only done 10miles as south wales weather biblical - however so far so good.
I need to roll the rear arches before I go lower .

Hahahaha!! Need to get the miles on before it’s wound down… so looks a little ‘donk’ at present.
