Gen 2 Brake Pipe Lines

Hi guys,

Had the car serviced the other week (first time in my care) by a local specialist. They were very very thorough and picked up a few things.

One was that the brake lines were starting to show signs of corrosion and will need toing in the future. For now they've cleaned them up and wax oiled them to slow it down but I thought I'd start budgeting now.

Has anyone had the lot replaced and any ideas on cost? I understand it's engine out so may as well do the AOS and coolant pipes whilst there?

Mine is a manual gearbox 3.8.

It may be worth checking what lines need doing?

My .1 I've changed to braided flexi hoses, however, the front left line wouldn't disconnect, so I needed to order a replacement solid line:

I've not done the work so can't quite get my head around it, but this goes into a distribution block (part 13), and 21 is the junction block to the rear (I think!?).

So if it's just the exposed "outer" lines, then they can be replaced without too much hassle it seems, but you may need the "other" lines and those over the engine, but probably worth checking before you drop the engine!

Rather than buying lines from the factory (I think some are steel?), why not just have them made in cunifer by a decent indy (or DIY)?

Has anyone tried the Rocketdog Racing braided brake cables?

They are cheaper than the OEM ones and apparently last a life time. Also brings down the labour cost so seems like a win all round.

Be good to hear if they are actually any good!
