Lad at work has a 996t cab which refused to start recently, we've traced the fault to the front to rear cable to the starter. It looked fine from underneath but it turned out it was snapped inside the insulation at the connection to the crimp on the starter motor.
The cable disappears into a metal tube at the side of yhe gearbox which then disappears above the gearbox.
We want to replace it but don't know if it runs along the transmission tunnel to the front, or if it goes through to the interior and runs forward from there, anybody know?
We've both searched the Internet but have not found anything useful, there is loads about the y cable on the non turbo's though!
We know from the parts diagram that it runs to an electrical distribution box at the front and we suspect this is located on the inside of the front bulkhead.
Think the next step is to start removing the interior but it would be good to know for certain.
We've done a temporary repair by using a jubilee clip to secure the the finly braided cable to the outside of the crimp. This is working fine for now but we want to fix it properly
Thanks Mac
