Can anyone direct me to an old thread or explain the engine issues for the991 GT3?

Which engines to avoid and whether extended OPC warranty can be approved for more than ten years?

I spent an age reading up on this when I was looking at a 991.1 GT3. I came to the conclusion it was only a G series engine that wouldn’t have me sweating about potential mega-costly engine problems.

The standard Porsche extended warranty can be renewed until any car is 15.

As long as you keep the car under an OPC warranty, I can't see what the problem is, at least up until the car is 15 years old.

My engine is a G6 (it went through two previous versions). According to the Porsche team and some specialists the G6 is essentially the 4 litre RS engine destroked to 3.8. The last time I spoke with them they told me no issues with the G6.

I will trade my 991,1 for a 991,2 hopefully before the warranty runs out (in 2 years)
Having said that I wouldn`t run any modern 911 without one as I cant afford 2-3K bills on 2 cars
