Starter Motor screech - cured (hopefully)

Sorry for dredging up an old thread, however I also have this noise, so will have a go at greasing the starter motor.
Really appreciate the photos - will make life a lot easier.
Alex - You mentioned stripping the starter down, while you had it on the bench. Is it pretty obvious what's needed, when you have it out of the car?

Thanks
Ben

Starter motor labour cost 997.1

Looking for a garage to change mine what are roughly the labour cost on changing one guys? Fit only as I've already bought new starter.

Depends on your garage's hourly rate. Takes about 2 - 3 hours.

I've been quoted £120 which I thought was fair
Thankyou for quick reply

That's not too bad. 3hrs x £40.

Does the Y cable get exposed when pulling the starter? Just wondered if worth doing a pre-emptive cable swap while in bits?

Ian

If you can re-decorate your hallway through your letterbox its probably doable.
