Who managed to get away this summer? Show us some road trip pics.

My Le Mans Classic trip didn't go quite to plan; took the AA 9 weeks to recover the 964....... so went to Spain and Portugal in the 993 - Estrada Atlantica and Serra da Estrala.

Anyone got any great routes they are willing to share for the Pyrenees? Thats on my list for next year.

I have just got back from virtually the same trip but on my motorbike. Shame i didn't see you, i would have come & said hello had i seen your car.

Sadly couldn't take the 993 as it was at Dave the Trimmers having an interior refresh (Collect on Monday :D )

Your car looks great

Did a few this year:

May - over to Santander and went to San Sebastian and Santillana del Mar

June - Rotterdam, Koblenz, Nuremberg, Berchtesgaden. Intention was to go over to Geneva via Lech to the Swiss Concours but got Covid. Result was 9 days isolating in Berchtesgaden and home via Stuttgart

August - Santander, Toledo and down to Cartagena, then back via Segovia

The plan is to do the Austria and Swiss trip next year.

Spa Classic in May. Journey there was horrible, driving rain for 4 hours. Rest of the weekend was great, including a stopover in Gent on the way home.

LM24 in June with obligatory stay at Le Westminster in Le Touquet on the way there and on the way back.

Also went to Silverstone Classic and Goodwood FoS.

I was amazed at the volume of bikes embarking & disembarking - obviously Picos and the Pyrenees are popular.

Pics of new interior please!

That is the way to use a 993, most on here would have a panic attack and palpitations putting that sort of mileage on theirs :floor:

Any mechanical problems encountered? I am guessing your a/c works well?

Manual or Tip?

Had a front N/S hub replaced the day before last Spain trip, otherwise it's been OK this year (touching wood). It's a 94 C2 manual and doesn't have a/c - temp in Mojacar was 37 so opened the windows and roof!

Kudos to you for actually using it as it should be

The no a/c in Europe in the summer would have made me think twice. My 968 doesn't have a/c and lives in SW France. I don't use it much when the temps are in high 30s! In fairness that's probably my age now. I bought it as a birthday present for myself when I hit 50 and drove it all over Europe without being in the least bit bothered. 20 years on and I have turned into a comfort driving first so tend to use an Alfa with a/c

West coast of Ireland. 800 miles in 40 hours. It's one way to get to know a car 😬.

I am also just back from Spain (and France). We spent our time in the Pyrenees and Picos de Europa, mainly using roads I copied from trip reports on here and from Pistonheads (Wozy - who has a 993).
Great scenery and some beautiful roads. However, a lot of bends are very tight and roads are narrow so you really have to concentrate and drive conservatively

No big trips as such, but a return to daily duties as had been the case when I got the car in the mid-2000s!

It's just so much more special than using my E46 M3 :)

6 miles to put into storage, no pics

A spirited drive, I hope.
