Looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts/comparisons between the two cars.

Thanks for all the nice comments on my new toy. Blue in the Porsche world seems to be a Marmite choice I just love it.

If i'm not mistaken that was the one that was for sale at RSJ a few weeks ago, you certainly jumped on it quick I was on the phone about it on Saturday and it was sold Monday first thing.
I too love that colour, I've got a bit bored with the Silver. Black or White choices, not that there's anything wrong with them!
By the way if it is that car it was a steal at the money, well done very nice car.

Yep that's the car. It first appeared on Auto Trader as a private add and I thought b****r can't do a trade in. It was up for a realistic private price so I had my fingers crossed that it would get picked up by one of the independent Porsche specialists for resale. Well I checked daily and it disappeared off Trader after about five days. A day later it appeared at RSJ. I knew it was the same car as it had only done 29,000 miles and with the carbon/Aqua it was a give away.

Darren at RSJ has been great. Very easy to deal with and I would recommend anybody looking for a Porsche to look them up. I have had regular updates from him about the progress of their prep work and the car looked stunning when I collected it. The process was very easy. They gave me a fare price on trade in on my old car (please don't ask how much as that was between me and them and they have to make a living) so I hope it's a quick a profitable sale for them when they sell it on. It was a fantastic car and really shouldn't need a great deal of work having only just had a major service at OPC at the beginning of the year.

As for the differences between the two cars. The ride is better on the Gen2 noticeably. Much more supple without loosing the ability to stick to the road like a limpet. The sound system sound quality is better with the obvious PCM3 interface being much nicer. Performance is more easily exploited with being able to flick through gears and well and yes it's faster.

All in all very please both with the car and RSJ.

Lovely car Matt, just stunning.

+1 for rsj Matt. Bought mine there 3 years ago.

Beautiful looking turbo btw and congratulations 8)

Nice one Matt, beautiful car. As someone who has only owned black or silver cars, I like the colour and would definitely consider aqua in the future. :thumb:

I also only have good things to say about RSJ as they have done some servicing and other bits and pieces over the years. They also have a nice coffee machine. :D

Yes another thumbs up for RSJ, I've dealt with Darren as well and he's very fair on prices, was just gutted I lost that purchase as Darren had already said he would take my car off me previously.
I really like that colour combination, I'm a bit of sucker for blue Porsche's as I've had 3 of them 968, 911 and a 928, although less said about the 928 the better!
Enjoy the car, it's a beauty. :thumb:

Nice car and congrats. A little more elaboration on the differences please, how does the direct injected engine sound in comparison to the mezger?

That's difficult to say as the car I PX'd had a standard exhaust and the new one has a Milltek exhaust. The new car sounds glorious when pushed and sounds stock when cruising. I'm still getting used to the PDK box so a proper comparison on performance is difficult but the car seems to pick up better and feels faster. :bandit:

Well done Matt, the car looks :worship: <= like that!

Massive thumbs up for RSJ here too, the only dealer I would buy from or sell to, they are just a great bunch of guys that prep their cars so well that they look like they are literally brand new. Bought mine from them 5 years ago, still going strong.

Enjoy this glorious weather with your new baby :cloud9:

Early morning run out. I am still getting used to the car and the differences between the gearboxes. That said I thought I would share my experience of owning both a manual gen1 and a PDK gen 2.

First things first the obvious difference the gearbox. I can honestly say that I thought the manual box was the Daddy when I brought my Gen 1. Nothing like flicking through the cogs in a sports car was my thinking. The only problem is they are so fast on the road and have so much torque that I tended not to bother most of the time, I just relied on the torque to pull the car to what ever speed I wanted to go. The PDK is a different story on the other hand. I find I am playing with the gears much more and getting the benefit of the better gear for the speed I want to do. Even if in auto mode and I want to pass something you can still flick the car down three gears and fly passed what ever was in your way.

The car also has less lag which just makes it feel like it has a bigger engine rather than a turbo charged engine. Progress is easier in the Gen 2 car because of these two factors.

The suspension is a noticeable improvement over the Gen 1 car. It rides the undulations in the road much better. It makes for a more pleasant ride but no less sporty when pushing on. Porsche have refined the the active damper settings from the Gen 1 car which is no great surprise seeing as the active damper system was in it's early days on the Gen 1 car. It has a more planted feel as it is not so easily thrown off line by a firmer ride.

The audio system also is improved on the Gen 2 car with better sound and nav is also better but to be honest I didn't buy the car for its sound system.

All in all the improvements are small in general, (excluding the gearbox) but noticeable. Either way you look at it they are both fantastic cars and anybody would be proud to own either. I consider my self very lucky to have owned both.

Enjoy what ever you have as owning one of these cars is a bit of a privilege
