997 has coolant pipes that run from side to side at the front of the car .. they will report corrosion or damp/ leaking on a service .

A coolant leak and antifreeze additive will try and seal the leak .. kinda like the old days when they said chuck a raw egg in the coolant .. or slightly more modern an additive to stop small leaks ..

Either way modern antifreeze contains additives which will do this .

Signs of corrosion / leak .. pink crystals or a pink surface to the pipe with no obvious water leak ..

Thats signs of a leak that has currently been sealed by the antifreeze .

reports of damp pipe or a leak and the antifreeze can't seal it .

A leak will be a slow one with these pipes .

Images below of damp / leak and signs of a previous leak .
