AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL 2014, AT BIRMINGHAM NEC

FROM 9 TO 12 JANUARY 2014

The 2014 FIA Formula One World Championship may still be almost 100 days away, but Autosport International is set to bring the pinnacle of motorsport to fans at Birmingham's NEC in January.

On 9-12 January, two months before the season-opening Australian Grand Prix and almost six months before the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Europe's biggest motorsport show will host contemporary and classic F1 cars, supported by personalities from the sport.

Led by the championship-winning Red Bull Racing, every team will be represented on the F1 Racing grid, in a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the motorsport masterpieces. The popular feature will also include the iconic Ferrari and fellow 2013 race-winning teams Mercedes and Lotus.

In the 5,000-seat Live Action Arena, the UK's largest indoor racetrack, popular Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft, better known as 'Crofty', will host proceedings which will include the legendary Lotus 79 and Lotus 49B F1 cars.

Joining the action-packed shows Crofty will share with motorsport fans, and appearing in association with Classic Team Lotus, the Lotus 79 and 49B were raced by the likes of Formula One World Champions Mario Andretti, Emerson Fittipaldi and Graham Hill. The models won 18 F1 GPs between them, leading to three Constructors' World Championships.

'I've really enjoyed attending Autosport International in recent years, and always taken the opportunity to check out what's happening in the Live Action Arena," said David Croft. 'I'm excited about hosting the shows in January, especially with the presence of the Lotus 79 and 49B as revered cars from the history of Formula One."

The Live Action Arena is a major Autosport International attraction, with fans witnessing live racing, exhilarating stunts and precision driving.

Crofty will be joined at the show by his Sky Sports broadcast partner, ex-F1 racer Martin Brundle, reviewing the 2013 season and looking ahead to 2014's new technical regulations. With more stars to be announced, 1964 Formula One World Champion John Surtees headlines the guest list, while German ace Adrian Sutil will appear on Sunday 12 January following his 2013 campaign with Force India.

'There's nothing quite like the detail of a Formula One car, and the F1 Racing display will give fans a rare opportunity to take a close look at cars from every team," said Ian France, Autosport International Director.

'The Live Action Arena is always a popular part of the show, and the opportunity to see, hear and feel Classic Team Lotus' iconic Formula One cars indoors is set to be unmissable, presented by David Croft, a critically acclaimed commentator."

Alongside Formula One, Autosport International will showcase every level of motorsport, including rallying, touring car racing and historic competition, along with a variety of interactive elements, including the Caterham Driving Experience and arrive-and-drive karting sessions.

Under the same roof, the Performance Car Show in association with Autocar and PistonHeads.com will feature the best road-going supercars, with Autocar to present a live demonstration of its Best Driver's Cars in the Live Action Arena.

BEST IN MOTORSPORT AND PERFORMANCE CARS HEADING TO BIRMINGHAM

Europe's largest motorsport show, Autosport International will pay homage to the best race and road cars at Birmingham's NEC on 9-12 January 2014.

Attended by almost 80,000 visitors in 2013, a host of personalities and cars from the adrenaline-fuelled world of motorsport will be present for Autosport International 2014, including World Champion on two and four wheels John Surtees, former Formula One driver and Sky Sports F1 presenter Martin Brundle and new Sauber F1 Team recruit Adrian Sutil ahead of the 2014 season.

Stars from F1 will be joined by nine-time Le Mans winner and current World Endurance Champion Tom Kristensen who will appear alongside his former team-mate and newly-retired Allan McNish, himself a three-time Le Mans victor. Andrew Jordan, 2013 British Touring Car Champion, will also attend the Birmingham-based show with fellow BTCC contenders that include champions Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden.

The F1 showing continues with cars representing all teams competing in the 2013 Formula One World Championship on the F1 Racing Grid, led by Red Bull Racing's RB9. The racing career of John Surtees will also be celebrated with a display of his cars and bikes, including his 1964 World Championship-winning Ferrari 158.

All disciplines of motorsport will be represented, from the pinnacle of the sport to the starting rungs of karting. A special rally display will pay tribute to the Wales Rally GB ahead of its 70th edition in 2014, while Jordan's BTCC car will headline a display dedicated to the UK's touring car series.

Running alongside Autosport International is the Performance Car Show, which will host some of the most stunning supercars and high-performance cars on the road, as well as UK unveilings of the new Vauxhall VXR8 GTS and Abarth's 595 50th Anniversary Edition. The latest cars from prestige manufacturers Aston Martin, Audi, Ferrari, Jaguar, McLaren and Porsche will also be on show.

Meanwhile, a fantastic selection of cars will be up for sale as Coys holds its annual auction at the show on Saturday 11 January 2014. Alongside classic road-going machinery, a 1956 Lamborghini Tractor DL30 will also go under the hammer.

As well as displays of top racing and road machinery, show visitors will also get to experience wheel-to-wheel racing and stunts in the show's Live Action Arena. To be hosted by Sky Sports F1 presenter David Croft and The Gadget Show's Pollyanna Woodward, the UK's largest indoor racetrack will feature exciting shows with live racing from a variety of disciplines, exhilarating precision driving and interviews with the stars of motorsport.

Show-goers can get even closer to the action with the Caterham Driving Experience, where they will be driven at high speed around a specially-designed track by a professional driver, or by taking part in one of the show's arrive-and-drive karting sessions or AutoSolo experiences.

'Autosport International has something for all motorsport and performance car fans," said Ian France, Autosport International Show Director. 'Whether you're a follower of Formula One, compete in a national championship or get involved with your local car club, there is plenty to see and do at the show. And if your interest lies more with aspirational supercars, the Performance Car Show will feature displays of iconic performance cars, of past and present."

Adult tickets are now available from £31 and children's tickets from £20, providing access to both Autosport International and the Performance Car Show. For more information about the show,

Now over 20 years old, our series now has three classes on a shared grid for 2 or 3 20 minute races over a weekend:
Class A - full race-spec 3.2 Boxster
Class B - production 3.2 986
Class C - 924

Modifications are strictly controlled via regulations to make the series as competitive and cost-effective as possible. Toyos are our headline sponsor once again for 2014, with the R888 as our control tyre.

Our official website is http://porscheracingdrivers.co.uk/

Regulations are not yet published for the 2014 season - but they're not far off. Our new season kicks off at Silverstone on 5/6th April.

Chris.
