Airbag slip ring

My airbag light is on and my garage says it's the steering angle slip ring, clock spring unit. I've bought another one, but I just can't make sense of what it says on the front of the unit, and what it says in the workshop manual.

Is there a step by step fitting instuction sheet somewhere on here to help idiots like me please?

I remember thinking the instructions on the slip ring looked confusing when I changed my indicator stalks, however if you just fit without twisting it around you'll probably be ok and if not it should become clear what's not right otherwise. Remember to test the indicator cancelling after installation and have the wheels straight ahead before you start. Key in the ignition first click when you disconnect the battery before removing the airbag.

Hopefully some better instructions will be along soon.

Thank you both for your replies. Looking at the manual and the unit itself, they disagree on the order of doing things, but I think this is how you do it.

Disconnect battery, centre steering. Remove steering wheel, airbag, and old unit.

Fit the new unit with the arrow on the outer rim of the unit (in front of where the grey connector goes) at the top.

On the front of the unit there is a metal tang with a visible spring. Press the tag outwards to compress the spring and turn the inner part of the unit to the right until you reach the stop. Then turn it back again two turns until the white arrow on the front of the unit lines up with the arrow on the outer rim, and let go of the metal tag. re-assemble from there.

Have I got this right?
