996.2 trade in price

No, its just some two bit Ebay trader from Norwich. Selling some fairly shaggy looking cars and other random 'bits". He seems to have gotten the picture now and left me alone.

I realise the asking price is strong, but I think it is good value when comparing it with others for sale.

Like I said, im reasonable and open to reasonable offers.

Anybody who is genuinely looking for a nice C2 will want to come and view the car. If it is as nice as it sounds then the price you are asking isn't far off IMO.

So far I am being trolled buy an ebay dealer who keeps telling me it's only worth £13,000 and you can get a decent 997 for £16,000

FGP or Modern Classic Co :dont know:

Simple answer to that surely. You'll trade in your 996 for 13k against a decent 997 that he sells you for 16k.

LOL - I think we will all form an orderly queue......

Another interesting point about ebay is everyone is a Porsche 'specialist".

Its always worth a try. If 1 in 20 deals then there is the profit!

So my adventures continue.

Ive put the car up on Autotrader now. Will get some better pics for the weekend.

Ive had an offer of 16500 which I turned down. However he is a Porsche specialist so told me to keep his number in case I change my mind.

I went to Ashgood today to have a look at some 997.2's. They have a beautiful manual 10 plate in Meteor gray. I really like that one.

I test drove a 59 plate PDK. This made my mind up that I want a manual IF I stay with a 911. My impression of thr 997 is it is not a great leap forward from the 996 in terms of performance or styling. It is objectively better in most ways, but I cant quite reconcile that a 997 is two or three times more expensive than a 996. I guess its personal.

Im going to test drive a new cayman tomorrow. Hopefully that will stir things up a bit...

Would a 987 Boxster Spyder fit the bill?

Sub £50k just, great residuals, proper supercar looks with the roof off and just a great road car.

Downsides are the roof is a hassle (when my mate owned one he'd leave the roof off permanently, or just clip the very outer part on if he had to) and the wind noise is a bit of a joke.

Great cars though! If I had a £40k to £50k budget it would be on my shortlist.

PS £16.5k isn't a bad price from a dealer.

Hi Mark

Funnily enough I had the same thought yesterday.

Im not sure I could live with the faff of the roof. They are very nice though.

So far the offers i've had for the 996:

RSJ: £14,000
Private ebay chancer: £15,500
Ashgood: £16,000
Unknown Porsche 'Specilist": £16,500

Very impressed with Ashgood yesterday. Very open and friendly. Inwould live to buy a car from them.

RSJ very slick, beautiful building, nice cars but you pay a permimum.

Tonight I'm going to Porsche West London....

I sold my Boxster Spyder and bought my 996 C4. The Spyder is a great car, but it's a bit of a one trick pony imho. Great at being a grown up Elise, but just a bit too good on the road. Devastating on track.
I prefer the 911. It has more character, is more exploitable, is just as engaging to drive and just as nice to own and care for. As I say - imho!
Oh and it cost half what I sold the Spyder for!

Friend just bought a Cayman from Ashgood and he was very pleased with the service he got from them

Sounds like with RSJ you pay a premium and get shafted on your PX...

The main issue is that after selling a 996.2 not much gives the same thrill v's price value so you could feel short changed.

I'm really coming to love my 996 more and more, I don't think £18750 is toppy at all.

That being said I've spent a fair bit of the last few days sat behind a 997.2 C4S
which looks jaw achingly beautiful and sounds amazing, they are however over £50k now for a good one, so ya pays yer money as they say....

Good luck whatever the outcome.

Their warranty is excellent and is 12 months.

You pays your money you takes your choice. I would be very comfortable buying a car from them.
