3.4 c2 won't idle when cold ?

car was fine when laid up 6 months ago, now it wont idle until warm even then its very low tick over, any pointers would be great thanks.

most likely suspect is the VVL solenoid

Check the idle control valve, could well be stuck.

What year is the car? If it’s post 1999 it’s probably got a not throttle cable so won’t have the idle control valve. It could be the MAF or even the camshaft solenoid, or a whole host of other things, try and plug a reader in, that should tell you straight away.

Thanks the car is throttle cable , the low idle seems to pick up a bit when the car warms up.
