I hope someone can enlighten me.....

Does the size of wheel have any bearing on the alignment setup?

If the alignment is set up by a specialist, such as Centre Gravity, with 17" wheels on the car, will the alignment still be correct for 18" wheels? If not, why?

TIA.

You'd think it would have an effect, but then again if angles are measured through the centre line of the wheels whether front to back or top to bottom, why does the diameter matter other than to magnify misalignment with larger wheels :?:

My C2 with sports suspension/18" wheels was done by Porsche Torque recently and Sid gave me a bit of a tour underneath the car, but didn't mention the effect of wheel diameter. Having pulled out the print out he gave me, wheel diameter is there, along with the chassis number and model details, so maybe it is a factor, perhaps for the sensors that are used on the wheels.

It might be worth asking Center Gravity, there is an "Ask Chris" function on their website, or their email address is [email protected]

On another note, I had taken one of their free January health check slots for next Saturday 31st Jan, but gave it up couple of days ago, so if you fancy getting your car's set up checked over for free by CG, it might still be available.

Thanks for the response MJA911.

I think I should have been a little more specific in my question. Like you, I don't think the diameter of the wheel should matter as the diameters of the tyres are the same for 17" and 18" wheels - the tyre wall heights are different. What I was really wondering is whether the extra 1" width of the larger wheels will have an affect.
