So what started with a little rust at the back of the front arches some how escalated into a full respray. A fine use of man logic, core investment fundamentals and a little 'I've work hard I deserve it'
So I dropped it off with Ty at Riviera a week ago.
I'm take the opportunity to replace what ever looks old or rusty at the same time; nuts, bolts, oil fan cowl (Cracked), rubber trim, sun roof trim, windscreen washer jets, front grill, 2 x front under quarters (the seemed to have swelled over the years and protrude from the front bumper), new bonnet badge, back grill
I'm also getting the front headlight washers deleted and adding foglight break ducts.
Now I have to say I'm a little embarrassed as I know it's not a back to bare metal respray but I never actually asked Ty how far back he does sand it... Also I'm not taking all the glass out, just the front screen to check for rust. The back is staying in as no signs of rust.
Them when it is all done, on the 17th, I'm sticking Frogtape on the front to protect from stone chips and driving it from Riviera in Reading to Paint Shield in Peterborough.
Paint Shield are going to apply a full front pain protection that I hope will keep stone chips off for 10+ years.
Then I'm going to go home and hope my wife never asks me how much it all cost... the same way I don't ask her how much her hair cuts costs... (Although I think she'd win that one)
Here are today's instalment of pics
Gotta say.. scariest photos I've ever seen of my car... not for the faint hearted, look away if it gets too much.
I've previously done the chassis legs but still some rust to be found on some bits that will need to be rectified
