Hello All,

Decided to join here and learn about the 911s as I am looking for an air cooled 911.

Mainly driven BMW M cars but have always wanted a 911. Recently been offered a 911 targa that needed a bit of work so this has got my search started!

I was thinking of the 964 as the rust with the older cars seems to be an issue?

Ideally a manual coupe would be perfect. I don't mind something that needs a bit of work. I like the idea of saving one by restoring but I wouldn't be doing the work Smile

I didnt know you could do this. Seems that I have a long learning curve with 911s.

Not for me. Why spend £££ making a 964 look like a 993 Confused

Go for one or the other, but not a cross-breed.

I still haven't found my car so have placed a post in the wanted section. I wouldnt mind a 964 or 993. The car will only be used for the weekends.

What do you guys think of these below:

Hi elan,

I've moved your thread into the 'Porsche Chatter' sub-forum and changed the title so that it might generate more reads.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks for moving the thread.

Maybe I should decide on whether to go for a 964 or a 993 first before the search? I have been reading up 993 v 964 but still cant decide!

Both good ...... but both different ........ I know that is not of much help but it's true.

But saying that if you go for a C4 there is quite a bit of difference between the 964 and the 993 ....... and if I were buying a 964 I would try and buy a C2 but if it were a 993 I would not be too worried either way.

Good luck in your search.

Thanks. The 993 or 964 will be a long term ownership so I just need to take my time and find a good one!

I was looking at the 993 in blue with just under 100k miles at 32k, Hamilton Gray website.

I don't own one but if I like to browse and if the right one came along, I'd seriously consider it and this one caught my eye.

It's a Tiptronic but looks clean IMHO.

Hand Actually I've rejected several out of hand as some sellers apply the Mystic Meg approach to values nooo Also turned down a few because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time but in my budget area.

Started looking in November last year and still not bought Dont know Missed the chance. Best wait until the down turn next year what

You've just missed out on a 964 I came across for, in todays market, reasonable money. I can see £15k being added in a few months after a third of that invested Wink

Sounds like I missed out on that 964. Was that the blue C2 coupe?

Please do let me know if you come across anything decent.

What do you think of this one guys?

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=201386721042&globalID=EBAY-GB

I would have preferred a lower mileage example but you can't have everything! What kind of price should I be paying for this? Thanks
