2002 3.2 boxster roof fault

hi,
the rear lid that covers the roof wont close properly and and no having any movement from the roof at all. even when uncliping the release in the car nothing. someone was using the roof up and down when the battery was quite low. i think this could be why?
so i was wondering if the roof can be re set or re initialized?
can someone help.
