I took my 997 gen. 2 Targa 4S for its first visit from Switzerland to the UK recently.
Apart from a niggling fault (more of that later in a separate thread) the car was absolutely superb. I really relished its supreme composure and ability, particularly on fast, open, country roads.

The big glass roof was open when temperature and speeds allowed. It is a significant improvement over the sunroof in my previous 997 4S.
If I were ever to move on to a 991, there is no way I would want the totally retrograde, impractical new Targa which sacrifices all the benefits of the 997 Targa (open or close top at any speed; rear seats and load space behind them uncompromised by roof; rear hatch; draught free at higher speeds and airy, light cabin with roof closed). I would choose a 4S coupé with the glass sunroof which offers almost as good an open top experience, albeit with the sacrifice of the very handy rear hatch).
However, I am perfectly happy with the 997 - apart from the current fault which i hope can be sorted. More in a separate thread soon!
