Please excuse my ignorance if this is common knowledge but is it possible to get an early low mileage car onto an OPC warranty scheme ? If so what would be the procedure and approximate cost, and would it be worth it ?

I sort of know about the Hartech scheme but they are at the other end of the country.

Just got a 2 year one from Porsche Portsmouth for my turbo and I think it was about £2400 including the 111point test, cannot remember the exact amout as I had a few other things done.

Assume that includes a service and any rectification work prior to them issuing a warranty ?
My car has had a couple of specialist services so not all Porsche servicing. Does this affect their decision ?
Is it a comprehensive warranty and would it cover the dreaded

If you want to pm me your e-mail I will send you a copy of the policy so you can have a look and see what is covered, also comes with the Porsche assist.
Was not to worried about the Porsche assist as I have the recovery part with my bank and also all my other work vehicles are covered by Green Flag, was told that you have to have it though.

I think if your car is outside of an existing warranty (original or extended) then you have to own the car for 90 days before Porsche cover will be granted.

that's right - 90 days from the "acquired vehicle on" date on the V5 document. I'm currently counting down the days til I can put mine onto the Porsche warranty

Is it correct that it is possible to bypass the 111 point check if you renew far enough in advance? I'd seen a year mentioned previously, so I'm wondering if that ever was, or is still the case..

They will insist on the 111 point test if you just want the year but that will also cover it for the 2 years.
I purchased the 2 year warranty from my local Porsche garage a few weeks back and although I do not normally keep my cars more then a year I thought it would be a good selling point.
Mine only failed on one of the horns was not working but they fitted it and I just paid for the parts.

ah cool so I can take out 2 x years warranty after the 111 point test then yes ? I for some reason thought I would have to do it 1 year at a time and have inspection again in a year.

Is it just a case of contacting my local OPC, arranging the 111 point check and paying up ?
Are there any other things I need to do ?

Er, No. The £2000+ is the cost of the 2 year warranty.

Before buying that you'd need to pay for the 111 point check AND anything that they found needed doing.

Previous non OPC history wouldn't stop you getting a Porsche warranty but some replacement parts might be needed to get it through the acceptance criteria.

The good news is that once you've paid out an arm and a leg the warranty is about as comprehensive as you can get.

No, you can purchase a 24 month warranty after the 111-point check is completed satisfactorily.

Just do be aware that there is a checkbox for: "No third-party installations on/in vehicle" which will include: LED bulbs; aero wipers; exhaust tips; audio add-ins etc etc... And of course, N-rated tyres (with DOT date <6 years old) are mandatory.

Always negotiate with them too. For my last warranty renewal because I got a service at the same time I negotiated for the 111 point check. I also didn't take the recovery because I have that through my bank account and that knocked a couple of hundred off the price. The car is due for a service and 111 check again next month and I've spoke to the OPC again about the 111 being done as part of the service :thumb:
