Openly wanted to recommend a great place to buy a Porsche for any naturally concerned 996/997 buyers like me. RSJ Sports Cars in Slough/West of London fulfilled me with every confidence in buying from them. Perfectly polite; Showroom is stunning (worth a trip regardless); and After Sales and Warranty added up to be a no-brainer. 1 Year with 3 months on anything.
Despite being fortunate enough to be in the market for another wide butt Porsche , at a c30K budget, while reading the Forums about the engines of both the late and early 2005 respective models, I started pondering different cars all together.
But a pleasant/chance call with owner Joel sufficed also almost every issue I had, in fact, if Carlsberg did new car buying experiences, they must have shares in RSJ. They sourced in a 54 plate, Tip, Met Midnight Blue 996 4S with a switchable PSE, Original Sat Nav, Heated seats, Litronic, treated factory optional wheels on new Michelins and Bose Sound. The provenance of the car's history is everything in my eyes. So bingo. Being just in and unprepared, it needed a handful of front stone chips dealt with, next service not due till summer 15', but the mot due shortly, so he arranged that to be renewed. The confidence is that solid, haggling the price is near nonsensical (honestly). Over a upcoming two week trip, Joel asked if he could conveniently have the car back to repaint the relevant panels in his on site facility then if that wasn't enough, have a specialist give it full bottom up Zymol treatment (apparently worth £500+).
He advised, the lack of a sunroof, cruise control and iPod interface I was looking for - to complete the wish list - was far from needed unless vital. In my line of work, I'm sceptical about everything. In reflection, I cannot believe how right he was. At 6'1, I appreciate the extra headroom I didn't have in 4S I had in 2005. Also, the floor hinged peddles and near perfect driving position make the missing cruise a redundant thought (and I've just done a London to Cornwall!) and lastly, oddly, I never listen to the stereo as the PSE sound is so addictive it's remarkable. Even a local guy in new Fezza FF dropped the window and laughed at the lights at how good it sounded at mid to full bark through the gears (then he zoomed off at full beans, ...oh wow! But then 6 vs 12 valves is not a fair music to ears fight, though some might disagree
Anyway, be it finance needed or if pay straight up, Joel and his team are great and really, really helpful. Spoke to a few waiting customers while picking up my new number plates (they administered those too for no profit btw) and they had nothing but excellent quality things to say Joel and his team. So RSJ? C'est tres bon I guess guys.
Hope this useful to anyone...?
Sorry, Will add some photos ASAP !
