So, doing a bit of preliminary research with regards to upgrading the standard (Hoover sounding) exhaust to something more in keeping with a super car. I have spoken to a few people and sampled a couple, however would be nice to get a definitive answer on which is best

The ones that seem to be rated quite highly are:
Kline innovation
9E switchable
Designtek
Euro pipe

There seem lots of options, 100 cell, decats, titanium etc and droning is something mentioned a lot.

Would be great to get feedback from people who have tried any of the above and recommendations...

Also, is a remap necessary when changing to one of the above?

Look forward to the responses...

I have a Speedtech . Made in the US . Speedtech are specialised in Porsche Turbo's and GT's.
Top quality system. Made of 7 different parts so you can module your exhaust like you want for the sound and flow.
I have the 2.5" Sport. It is awesome at full chat and nice in the cabin when cruising.
The 3" system is too hard core and too loud.
speedtechexhaust.com plenty of videos on youtube.

I'm not inot after-market kit, but I pop round to my local indy and have a chat over a coffee from time to time and discuss anything and everything Porsche. In one such conversation we got onto the subject of exhaust systems. The name Cargraphics is the one he rates as being the best for a Turbo - but pricey. Apparently many systems have a piercing drone at 65-75 mph that can be alomost unbearable. The Cragraphics one doesn't have this and has the best sound and impact on performance.

But as I said, I'm not into these mods. My car is as close to how it left the factory as it can be.

I spent two days with a TechArt equipped 997TT earlier this month. It was improved on the vacuum cleaner sound, but still not a patch on basic PSE on a 997.1.

Cargraphic are Milltek system with Cargraphic written on them.....simple as that.

Milltek don't have great flow as the diameter of the pipes is nearly the same as stock.

Sound wise they are rubbish if I may say...

100 cells cats and bigger diameter for the pipes is a must.

The speedtech in 2.5" sound very GT3 cup , the 2.5" Sport has more bark, the 3"quiet and Sport are simply barking mad !!! ( ear plugs needed....which

Bloody phone !!!!!!!!! Arhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :gunfire: :gunfire:

Speedtech seems to have some good followers on rennlist.

Did you order yours direct from US or do they have a UK distributor?

Martian is very positive about his Capristo system (997 turbo) so you may want to talk to him.

I have only heard a few aftermarket exhausts on youtube and the like so it's hard to call how much of an improvement they can really offer sound-wise. Of the few clips I've listened to they all seem to mimic HGV's with shagged turbo bearings - all whistles and drone :nooo:

I've simply come to accept that mine will never compete with its NA brethren, and while it may never reach the melodic highs of Joan Sutherland (google her), I think Brian Blessed will do just fine thanks... :thumb:

I've got a milltek with 100cel cats on mine. I have to say I am completely underwhelmed by it.

The best exhaust I have ever had on a car (or have ever heard for that matter) is the Kline on my old 4S. I believe the kline turbo system is great too.

Isysman recently had a Kline fitted to his 997tt. I wonder what his thoughts on the exhaust are?

I am considering changing my Miltek to a better one. I would probably go the Kline route unless the reviews arent positive.

Milltek will not payout under warranty unless you have a remap something to do with the cats be damaged by increased temperatures if the car is not mapped correctly. This could be Milltek specific but worth checking with whatever manufacturer you go with.

When do you pick up the car?

I got my car back from 9e last week - gtrs intercoolers, rss mounts, fuel pressure regulator, DVs, actuators, map, new brake pads, MOT, a wash and of course one of thier switchable exhausts.

In quiet mode its good, a bit louder than standard nice and sporty when pushing on but not silly enough to wake the street up when pootling around in the morning.

In loud mode...its akin to having several angry lions in the back of car being prodded with a sharp stick every time you touch the throttle. I believe it may actually be responsible for raising the dead - possibly louder than my last car (Italian V8 with a Tubi) The car also feels more revvy and quicker in loud mode.

Generally now, the car goes like a very fast thing in a hurry when the right pedal is pressed.

In short, I like it.

David

I have a tubi on mine.

At full chat I've never heard anything like it, even with a turbo muffling the sound, I've had nothing but good comments, it does sound amazing.
