What's your oil pressure...?

So, I seem to recall that at idle, the oil pressure indication moves around a bit and then once some revs are applied, the pressure rises up to 5.

Currently, it is only ever at 5. I have not seen it drop at all during the last few drives.

Normal for a 2005 C4S..?

sender

When warm and at idle it should read around 2 or slightly under.

Should move smoothly as revs applied, 5 only when cold.

Sounds like your sender is faulty.

Cheers, I was thinking the same but wanted to see what others get.

Going on from this point, how long are yours drives? Greater than 20 mins?

Mine flickered about a little and started to gradually get worse.

Can't remember how much it cost and as I have sold my 996, I gave all the bills to the new owner!

Last drive was about 35 minutes, 10 minutes warm up and then spanking it.
I moved it about abit today (in/out of the garage) and it constantly read 5.

mine stays at round 5 for about 10 miles then gradually drops to 3 ish but under load above 3000 rpm when hot goes upto 5 ish...at tickover it sits at 1.8 ish 65000 miles on clock..

Nothing to it, I'm going to have to go for another drive tomorrow :D

If it is broken, the warranty should cover it

Sender replacement

Hi there

I have had the sender replaced on my C2 cab and now on my Turbo S cab as they eventually are consistent intermittent problems.
Cost for the part is £60 but fairly lengthy labour job as a lot to remove to replace it. Total was £259 on my turbo S last year.

But well worth the peace of mind!

Yer, it must be knackered as I went out for over an hour last night for a bit of a hoon.
The pressure remained a 5 bar.

I'm off to a garage next week so will get a quote.
