My shocks arrived last week from Carnewal, so it was time to get everything fitted:

Koni Sport adjustable shocks
H&R springs
New coffin arms
New Drop links

And on route to my local independent Porsche specialist for its service & geo.

Photo's don't do the drop justice, once I get it back I'll add some proper photos.

The ride quality has essentially not changed, it feels just as comfortable as with the standard suspension, even over bumpy B roads on route to my Indy. This seems to be much down to the quality of H&R springs, and the soft settings available on the Koni shocks. I couldn't recommend this setup enough to anyone wanting to improve the overall look, handling etc, whilst retaining ride quality.

Keith :)

Looking good :thumb:

How do indies know what to adjust aftermarket suspension to?

The only adjustment in the suspension is damping.

They will setup the geometry which is all done using the standard setup. I'm going to get them to dial in the GT3 settings as it's close to a GT3 ride height now.

Ok i suppose they must all go off your ride height.

Yes, probably bring toe/caster/camber back to factory spec. I just don't want any additional tyre wear.

What's the drop? Got any closer up before and afters?

I measured it to be 21mm rear and 18mm front. That was immediately after fitting.

I've been on holidays for a week and will be picking it up from my Indy tomorrow with the Geo done, i'll get some good photos this weekend.

Got the car back from bring serviced. Had a cool running thermostat fitted at the same time.

Unfortunately my Indy's Geo equipment is broke so I'm going to get it done elsewhere ASAP.

Some pictures of it washed.

Excuse the photos.

Cheers

Got the car back last night from having the Geo setup.

I had the guys dial in the same settings as the Factory X74 suspension and I must say it's transformed the car. Really delighted overall now!

How does the cost of this compare to the MO30 suspension package ?

I know yours will sit lower but would it be a stiffer ride than the MO30 ?

The M030 kit is no longer available from Porsche, design911 might have stock left, but if they don't then that's them all gone.

I can honestly say I feel no noticeable difference in the ride stiffness. The beauty of the Koni shocks is they are adjustable, so on the soft setting it's just as comfortable as standard.

My local Porsche guy commented on how good it felt as he originally advised me not to lower it as his experience of other kits is they are too harsh. He had a boxster in recently with M030 and said my 911 was far more comfortable.

You can buy the Koni sports and h&r springs as a package for around £1200.

I'd love to find a really cheap knackered 996 out there someday that is almost worthless and rebuild it by a Hartech upgraded engine, this sort of suspension package, and maybe a supercharger. I couldn't justify the cost of modifications on my own car because its already brilliant. Maybe someday my own car will be a knackered old pila. THe great thing is thought, these 996's have fantastic potential for 'rejuvenation' in the future with all the options that are available now.
