Teflon Tape. Used allegedly as 'insulating material' to negate creaking 993 windscreens.

Snake oil; it serves no purpose whatsoever.

If you want a 993 windscreen fitted without the creaks, have the job done properly. Using this type of 'insulating material' is pointless and may even do more harm than good.

That. Is. All.

Are you secretly a rep for Teflon trying a bit of reverse psychology :hand:

Ps you could put that up on ebay, say its from a low mileage 993 turbo S in black in good used condition and it will sell for good money :bandit:

I think he bottled his old Teflon tape and it worked for him......Kim is kind of weird in oh so many ways......;)

What. Did. ?

The tape. Brilliant stuff, stopped the creaking straight away.

Maybe a good fitter (like yourself perchance?) doesn't ned to use it. If so, could you give us a list of the fitters you'd recommend in the UK please. It would be very helpful.

Mine squeaks Like a bast@r@ when warm weather, so any alternative advice gratefully appreciated.

Have the screen refitted properly.

True story.

I had a laugh too, because of the word 'properly' being used.

I suspect there is one 'right' way and many variations of the wrong way. Many of those fitters who do it the wrong way would probably argue they do it 'properly'.

Too vague

Seems clear cut to me.

It's either proper and correct or it ain't.

Mine has been installed with no tape and is quiet as a mouse.

Tape on the last car just trapped water and the screen still creaked.

I had the screen on my 964 replaced once and the one on my 993 twice in Q8. Tape was never used, a bit of spit to smooth down the sealer before offering up the screens but that was it. I never had or have had a squeak out of any of them, they fit perfectly and each one cost a mere £100 done and dusted!

ATB :)
