Hello, Olympic Warranty question

Bought myself a C2S a couple of months ago, very nice too. It came with a 3month warranty which runs out at the end of Jan. I've had a letter from the warranty company, to extend the cover for 12 months is £199.

Max claim £1k. Obviously T&C's apply, of which I'm sure there are many and I hav'nt been in touch with them yet in order to obtain a copy. The company in question is Olympic Warranties in Leeds, has anyone had any dealings with them? I've only just registered on here so have not used the search facility yet (is there one?)

I bought the vehicle from Redline in Knaresborough. They were great, did me a good deal on the '11 Defender I traded in, filled the 911 up and told me to take it for the afternoon and were more than happy for me to get a pre-purchase insp done (I'd had another possible looked at by Porschtek)

I hav'nt spoken to them yet but I'm assuming they use Olympic regularly.
She's an '06 with 34k showing.

Morning Dave, welcome to the forum. There is a search facility. I wouldn't bother with the warranty, the chances are you will be out of pocket. Have you got any photos yet?

Agree on the warranty. I bought mine last year with a 6 month RAC warranty which looked pretty comprehensive. When it came to renew I was pretty tempted until I spotted the max £1,000 claim limit. After that you are on your own anyway so I prefer to take my chances.
After all - what could possibly go wrong......!!

+1 for photos....

+3 on warranty. A £1k limit! Are they having a laugh!
Welcome anyway and lets have some pictures.

Hi, indeed Rob, what could possibly go wrong? The Defender I traded in was brand new when I bought it and had done 18.5 when I sold it, absolutely no problems whatever in spite of all the doom and gloom on the LR forums, perhaps I was lucky but it was certainly the best works 4x4 I'd ever had. Maybe it's down to how they are driven/looked after.
This 997 is the first 2nd hand car I've bought for many years and the warranty, whilst not a deciding factor, was definately a plus-point.
I'll probably save the £199 and put it towards a big service in the new year.
I have plenty of photo's but it looks like I'll have to re-size a few to stick up.
I also have a Ducati Monster 1100evo in the garage along with a Wilier roadie, a Pashley Guv'nor, a Specialized fixie and a Marin, any more 2 wheel fans around?

If you can't be bothered with resizing just get yourself a photobucket account and put your photos on there then post the links. I'm not a 2 wheel fan but always happy to see pictures of boys toys.

Welcome Dave :welcome:

The 'Search Forum' facility is at the top right of the page.

Type in something resembling the subject that you're interested in hit 'search'.

eg. 'Bikers' would give you a start on identifying others on here that have an interest in motorcyles.

I don't know anything of Olympic warranties specifically but many of this type of third party warranty not only have a claim limit but also specify a maximum hourly labour rate. Very often this is nothing like what a Porsche specialist would charge and would probably only cover half of an OPC labour rate.

Check the T&Cs but personally I'd bank the £199.

+1

An early C2S is still a £65k car to run and a claim limit of £1k is wildly off the mark. I'm guessing the seller's not a specialised sports car dealer or else they would be selling specialised warranties to go with it.

Ooops...then this is a chink in their customer service. Their cover will allow for removal of the rear bumper, a few more nuts and bolts from the engine and then......that's it!

Negotiate a level of cover for around £5k-£10k; that will cover you for potential engine issues. Otherwise, you're better off buying a warranty elsewhere that will give you this cover. Use the 'search' function on the forum to see what warranties people have been buying.

I hope the £300k Aventador doesn't have the same warranty :floor:

I think Lamborghini's have a 3yr warranty, probably not through Olympic Warranties though. Non vale la carte e' scritto su, allegedly :D

Well, I've had it for just over a year and covered about 2,000 miles. Love the car. No problems at all, just passed MOT, no advisories.
I'd sort of budgeted around £1500 per year for maintainance and she's cost about £1600 so far. £600 for a major service, £200 for a new key and £800 for a set of Potenzas. £55 for MOT.
RPM at Knaresborough, highly recommended.
I've also bought a cover, £280 from Specialised and a CTek charger, £60.
I'd planned to have it machine polished at Swissvax but at £300......bollox to that, I've bought some Poorboys Black Hole polish and Nattys wax and I'll do it myself.
I was planning on firing her up over the border to do some of the roads I enjoy on the bike (Ballater/Grantown, Tore/Ullapool, Spean Bridge/Dalwhinnie etc) but the salts gone down now, so maybe next year.
Overall.....very pleased with the car, just need a bit more time to use it
