During the ppi I have them a list of all the mods and items that were said to have been replaced which all checked out:

New battery
New coolant pipes
New fuel lines and return
New engine earth strap
New rads and condenser
New undertrays and ducts
New cardon shaft
New coilpacks and plugs
New suspension top mounts and bearings
New fan resister
RMS replaced
All four trailing arms replaced
All for suspension arms replaced

PPI picked up a slight weep on a coolant pipe which I've been watching and the paintwork had been resprayed - the front and back bumpers aren't great when up close

First up was a new windscreen as someone smashed it on the first day.

Auto windscreens did a great job though they turned up with the wrong screen first.

Next up GT3 seats:

I lose the memory function but to be honest, its worthit! The tombstones were pants.

Red seat belts followed:

All four of course from Barry at inertiabelts.

During fitting I made the schoolboy error of switching on the ignition before connecting up the seat belt switch and in got the airbag light of death. I connected up the durametric that came with the car and it didn't work, all i got was "module failed to initialize". So I tried it under a different model and the 993 durametric program seemed to work and I was able to clear the code

I wasn't to happy with the standard brakes. I'm not buying the Walter rohrl progressive braking/modulated feel story, they were wooden and pants, so I bought some man sized stoppers that Porsche used to improve later models.

GT3 6 pots

Performance friction 06 compound pads and standard rotas.

Had a problem with a blockage in the caliper pipe, it was full of copper slip!

I messed up on the fitting initially by putting the rotas in the wrong side, this was due to taking then out the box before installing them, but quickly rectified!

Nice!

I'm seriously considering the 6 pot callipers myself.

What was the cost?

I bought shantybeaters GT2 silver clocks and fitted them. This was easier than I thought, I just changed the computer out and didn't have to touch the main dials. Though the oil pressure was said to be intermittent so I swapped that out.

The oil pressure gauge could be removed by clipping it out the facia, then the needle just popped off with some interior trim removal tools. The needles are help on by friction only so you can twist them beyond the stop of the motor, this made resetting easy. All I did was pushed them in half way then turned the needle a full 360 degrees counter clockwise until I came back round to zero where I pushed the needle home, this meant I could easily set it back to zero.

The oil gauge just then clipped back into place.

"Big Reds" 996 GT3 Calipers - £800 (ebay new refurbished)
GT3 Performance Friction 06 pads - £200 (porsche calipers) - (on offer!)
12 off GT3 Anti squeal shims - £102 (porsche calipers)
GT3 Caliper Pin Kit - £42 (porsche calipers)
4 off 996 GT3RS caliper bolts (999906704209) - £18.48 (design 911)
2 off 997 OEM discs - £306 (design911)
4 off 997 disc bolts - £2.40 (design911)
ATE Super Blue 2l - £29.40 (design 911)
Sealey VS820 brake bleeder - £29.95 (ebay)

I had to get new bolts from my local OPC though as dire911 sent the wrong ones despite ordering them for a gt3.

I also had to reuse my disc bolts as they were longer on account of the spacers for the 997 wheels.

Carbon Centre console had also now been fitted, got this of a guy in Spain, though its better now its on, I think the quality is about 90%, some slightly poor finishing if you look closely but covered by the rest of the interior.

I also removed the carbon accent from the gearstick surround as it was pants and resprayed it aluminum.

I had a few error codes on the dme which I cleared when I was trying to reset the airbag light. Then last night I got the check engine light which threw a code 724 which if the o2 sensor on bank 2. I checked the output against bank 1 using the durametric and it outputted a constant 1v whereas the bank 1 sensor fluctuated like it should so will replace that tomorrow. Will need a funky tool to remove it so I've spied one from machine mart which I will purchase tomorrow. Love buying tools!

Good work, great looking motor! Particularly nice to see someone getting stuck in and doing some proper DIYing with their 996 :thumb:

Nice, does it have a dyno printout? Would be interested to see how it makes its power. Whats left to do.
